New Lord of the Rings title

Hey all.....i found this a few minuets ago.....

Lord of the Rings : The White Council

"
Back in April, you may recall, EA launched a website to promote a new next-gen title known only as Project Gray Company - until now.
During a presentation at the Studio Showcase event in San Francisco, EA confirmed that the game's real name is Lord of the Rings: The White Council, and that it's an action RPG."

News - EA unveils new LOTR game // None /// Eurogamer

and heres the rest :P

i pray to God that there will be a PC version

Re: New Lord of the Rings title

The news about this looks grim unfortunately
Under the condition of anonymity a source revealed to 1UP that the ambitious, licensed, RPG that was to be Lord of the Rings: The White Council is no more.

EA Disbands LOTR: The White Council? news from 1UP.com
and
... however on February 2, 2007 EA announced that the game had been put on an indefinite hiatus, and to date no further information has been released.

Re: New Lord of the Rings title

I was pretty excited about this until I heard they were putting mixes of R&B and Rock in a LOTR game. Then, I knew the game wouldn't do so well. A Tolkien game by itself needs its true soundtrack, not Thunderhorse or some Dynasty Warriors failure. I mean, it's so simple just to get the music from the movies and other games...and just stick it in there.

That's the only thing I don't like. The fact that there's a lot of adventure in it really made me happy, but still action. And you get to go all around Minus Tirith (all seven levels, which is a big feat for a game).

Maybe they'll re-make it and go, "Alright, listen...this is what we did wrong, now lets just start over" because in my view...for a LOTR game, if it's good, I'll wait a suitable amount of time for it.

Now I hope it isn't turn-based. I hate that, and the fifth age game (forgot its title I think) had that style. It ruins the concept of LOTR. Things happen quick in a real LOTR game, you should be experiencing the sense of, "Oh, I have to make a quick decision fast" (I mean, not button mashing like the spiderman 3 game...but you know). Not like, "I'll just take my time and choose what I need to choose...I don't even have to press start to pause...I can just leave it like that and just walk away"

LOTR games were meant for action. But, I always hoped of a LOTR game (not online) to have strong...strong adventure. I always wished I could start a character...and travel through the lands and go to these places like Moria and Rivendell, and I could have a real adventure. I also hoped it wouldn't care about my level, it would care about what I had with me...and how smart and strong I was.

For example, say my other friend had the game. When I meet him at school, I could go, "Oh, I went to Moria and that Balrog was pretty hard!"...and he would go, "Yea I went along Rohan, and those Wargs are tough as hell!"

Re: New Lord of the Rings title

I was so excited when I brought home Third Age. Then I had my first combat experience, took the game out of the system, put it in it's case, and it's been on my shelf ever since. It was like Gladius all over again.

Re: New Lord of the Rings title

It's kinda sad what the games have become and they shouldn't be like that. I know these games should be a lot better, so you can actually experience the Tolkien world while playing it, but now with the music and everything, it's ruining the games. Heck I remember The Hobbit, and the first few Lord of the Rings games(The Hobbit wasn't the best, but I suppose enjoyable), but when these games came out it was like you were in the LOTR world and everything. The music, the scenery, action was all relatively good. Now it's sort of disappointing, however part of me wants to check out this new game.

I agree dude, this techno music....just won't fit. I imagine charging into the battlefield, and hearing the godly music of Gondor as I pull out my bow. Or maybe i'm int he midst of war, and I'm piled with Orcs around me, and faintly in the background you can hear Enya's "May it be" Just to go with the movies.

I just love adventure, and I like to hear that celtic and strong music in the background. It's the sense that wherever you go, with a friend or not, something is on your side. I just hope this game will be unlike the others, like:"Instead of us pointing you in a direction...you can go wherever you want"

And keep in mind, the game is on hold (EA confirmed). Not canceled ^_^

Re: New Lord of the Rings title

UPDATE UPDATE:I just read a latest Game Informer issue, and it said this on page 24, Data File:

EA CONTINUES WITH LORD OF THE RINGS

"Not long ago EA announced that Lord of the Rings RPG The White Council was on indefinite hold. Now, the company is renewing its partnership with New Line Cinema and declaring that an all-new title is on the docket for 2008. Looks like all our initial speculation (see issue 168, page 34) regarding The White Council being hijacked for New Line's needs took a step towards being true."

Re: New Lord of the Rings title

I agree but somehow that post is a bit offensive :realmad: (Not that i'm gay, it's just I know some people who are)

Though, the r&b ****, yea that does suck. But then again, New Line pretty much said,"No r&b! No techno ****! We want the LOTR Music! And no being stupid" and they said in in a Japanese tone, whacking people with a rolled-up newspaper.

Please refrain from posts that could be offensive and avoiding the swear filter.

Re: New Lord of the Rings title

It's a little late of me, but I must say: nice find, Rhadiel. I love Lord of The Rings games, mainly because I just happen to be a sucker for all-things Lord of The Rings (LOTR coffee-mug, anyone?)

Even the title of it: Lord of the Rings: The White Council, sounds pretty sexy too. ^_^

Hail! *Raises pint of beer*

Re: New Lord of the Rings title

Ok, I'm getting a little sick of two things here - the whole gay bashing thing and the constant persistent evasion of the swear filter. Andythegill, you've been warned before and I have edited no less than four posts of yours today because of swear filter evasion. You now have a second yellow card on your profile for inappropriate language.

Aaaaaaaaaaand....back to the discussion...

Yea dude, I have all the JRR books, including the Children of Hurin (great book, just came out).

I'm sure EA will make a computer version. It only makes sense, since the game is somewhat identical to Oblivion (other than the combat, and the adventure...I have a feeling I will love this game compared to Elder Scrolls IV)
