New to this/ideas

I am new to modding Fable. I have had the Xbox version since it was released, and have been thinking of things I want in the game ever since. If enough of what I want to do can be done, I will get the PC version and get to work. Here are some things I want to make:
46 new regions, 7 of which are towns, 8 of which have Cullis Gates
A new level of weapons beyond Master that have 4 aug slots and do more damage
New types of weapons (ball and chain, spear, repeater bows, shurikens, bombs, etc.)
Ice and Poison augmentations
4 or 5 new spells
More levels (9-10 instead of 7 for stats, 5-6 instead of 4 for spells)
Enemies more powerful/more types
More items available in shops
Perhaps a new pub game or two (this might be a stretch)
More quests

I know this will take me some time, but I don't much care as I don't have a 360 on which to play Fable 2 when it comes out.

well if you become a good enough modder i geuss most of them could be done easilly if not a bit tedious but some have already been done eg. a new set of weapons would be rather simple and there have been several weapons made or edited ive done 2 with links in my sig (not meaning to self plublisitise (sp?)...

You should check out some of the threads on the fable mod site. They're doing almost some of the same things you thought up.

And bombs already exist in game. All you have to do is spawn them. Check out some of the things in my thread

Some of the ideas (Ball and chain) Wouldn't work very well. You'd have to make animations and it's very complicated.

Hmm...seems like I do remember bombs. Can the Hobbe or Whisper's or Maze's staff be used by the hero for bombs? I thought ball and chain would cause problems for that reason...

You mean use the staffs as bomb throwers? Dunno. Like I said you should search around the fable mod site. They have a lot of stuff going on there. ^_^

Isn't that what the Hobbes/Whisper/Maze do with their staffs?

It's not possible to make new regions
New set of weps could be done, but new types can't because we can't yet make animations. The only reason someone was able to make staffs usable was because Maze and Whisper use 'em
New augments are possible if you can find the right effects for 'em, but new effects can't be made.
Can't make new spells
Can't add more levels for leveling up
Pub Games can't be made
Quests, other than digging ones, can't be made.

The reason that these can't be made is because quests and animations and such are hardcoded into the game, and someone would have to crack the exe first, which is no mean feat :hmm:
Good ideas though :thumbsup:

If someone can open up the .exe and let me read it, this shouldn't be a problem. I have all the time I could ever need to figure these things out.

As for new regions, some of the regions I want to make will be in the desert in the southeast corner of the map, so I need some desert textures (might be best to modify snow textures) and some transitionals between Darkwood and the desert. And I would be most appreciative if someone could make a few cactus models to put in the desert. Everything else I want to make could be made with textures that are in the game already.

For new weapons, the first thing I want to do is make a fifth tier of weapons out of crystal/gemstone textures that have 4 aug slots do more damage than Master weapons. Not sure what material to have the new bows made of though.

...well aside from being pretty much imposable it would take at least a few years

Nothing is impossible. But I need to know what the .exe looks like. Is the problem that no one can get it to display in understandable language, or that no one can interpret what it does when?

As far as I understand the .exe is pretty complex. We've had some people looking at it on fabletlcmod.com, and I know Bluetooth (Keshire is his username here) knows a bit more about it, probably Silver too.

They've had a lot of problems with most of the file formats Fable uses, but they got very far untill now. Development on the application side has pretty much halted. There are some unfinished things to give a shot at though.

I am interested, and I will be much more interested when my summer program ends this week and I have a month with nothing to do but try to make this work.

i have used unix, java, C and C++...i don't call myself an expert but i am much better at editing things than at starting from scratch

Well you could check out what can be done with fable explorer.

I thought this was pretty much publicly known, but here it is anyway. I am no longer currently working on Fable Explorer or any fable modding. If you are interested in continuing FE development let me know and I will get you setup with access to the source code. FE was written in C++ and C#. If you plan on looking into developing FE you should be familiar with these languages or be interested in learning them.
As for me, I may return to working on fable modding and tools in the future, but most likely that will not happen unless Fable 2 goes to PC.

New idea: a Red Mushroom that boosts health and makes the Hero go Berserk for a short time. And how about being able to eat/trip on Blue Mushrooms?

You could make Blue Shrooms give you the drunk effect :lol: Tripping not possible though, can't make new anims :'(
