This is more about me venting than constructing a useful post, but maybe it'll be helpful to someone who is thinking about buying one of the new xbox 360s...
I ordered one with a 250GB hard drive from the GameStop website earlier this month for my boyfriend's birthday. I gave it to him this past Saturday and he was super excited about it... until it started making really loud noises... and freezing... after THREE DAYS!! Considering that I spent FOUR HUNDRED DOLLARS on it (after taxes, shipping, and the Halo Reach game it came bundled with), as you can imagine, I am supremely ****ed off right now. None of the local GameStops have it in stock so my only option for exchanging it is mailing it back and waiting for another one. Maybe I just got unlucky and it's a fluke, but only one of my friends has the new 360 and he has already had to return his too (it lasted a couple months rather than a few days, but still....).
Maybe this doesn't seem like a big deal because I can probably mail it back GameStop and get a new one in a couple weeks -- but there's nothing worse then giving someone the perfect gift that they really, really wanted and then seeing how disappointed they are when it breaks after three days. Epic fail for you, Microsoft.
