After the departure of Tomonobu Itagaki and co., many would argue that the new Team Ninja has lost proper guidance and is leading their series of games into the wrong direction. In a report from IGN during Gamescom, no matter what you do to your opponent with no matter which weapon, you will not be able to sever the limbs nor decapitate the heads of your foes. The reason for Team Ninja doing this is their belief that "We don't think people want to see that anymore, they've already seen that."

Yes, we've also seen uncontrollably bouncing breasts in every Ninja Gaiden & DOA release, does that mean we don't want to see them anymore? No. If you ask me, I think this is a bullshit excuse by them and perhaps a cheap attempt to garner more sales via a Teen rating.

Source,

Ninja Gaiden was famed for its gore, what next maybe toning down the difficulty to appeal to the younger market with special attention shown to a Wii version?

I would rage if they did that, I might still get this game.. I don't know yet. If there's one thing I like about Ninja Gaiden it's the deep level of combat that it carries over from the DOA series, along with its brutal level of difficulty (even for Easy). There's not a lot of games out today anymore that can intice such frustration and negative emotion towards the CPU difficulty like NG, aside from Dark Souls (which I'm also looking forward to getting my hands on).

I saw the E3 gameplay of NG3 awhile back, and the combat looks a tad dumbed down with seemingly a lack of depth in the combos and terribly repetitive critical kill animations.

If anything they would need to make the combat much deeper if they were to cut the gore. As stylish kills and huge gore levels can often mask repetitive combat and shallow systems.
