Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

ninjas do not fit into the fable universe...yet. in time.

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

I do not think they fit into the Charles Dickensian sort of setting which Fable III will be set in. I think assassinations should play a more in depth role, though. Having ninjas wouldn't fit with the flavour of the thing.

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

Ninjas might be somewhere in the Fable world, but definitely not in Albion, and probably not in Samarkand. Maybe in some other region that hasn't been revealed yet.

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

could be in Fable, there are books that tell of "the pople from the East"
you've all seen the katanas and the Daichi, just read about the Daichi - pretty sure it says something about a forreign folk.

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

^Katanas came from Samarkand, so it's somewhat of an African-Asian place, but more so African.

It's more of a tropical island paradise than a tribal Africa.

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

Not exactly a tropical island paradise. Look at the name, it's probably an okay indicator of what it's like. I mean, sure, the inhabitants are black instead of West Asian/East European/Middle Eastern, but it has a definite "big place way off far that has a little bit of everything passing through" that the our-historical Samarkand had. It's in modern-day Uzbekistan, was a mostly-merchant city on the Silk Road.

Maybe with the tropical island paradise you're thinking of the book in F1 that mentioned the island whose people got decimated by Albionese diseases and so they rebuilt with impenetrable beach defenses?

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

Yeah, maybe that's what I was thinking of.

Now that I think about it, Samarkand definitely seems more African.

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

Where did this ninja stuff originate? I mean who suggested it for Fable? Ninjas wouldn't fit.

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

if you've played fable 2 and you have seen the dress style, you would rightfully deduct that ninjas could not possibly exist in the fable universe as pirates have already killed them off.

if there were ninjas then all of the pirate-esque gear would be replaced with ninja outfits, kimonos, and those freaky old-time asian loincloths.

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

Yeah, we're not in the time of kung fu blah blah yet in the fable time line. If they did put that in it would ruin the whole thing, i mean ninja's in fable 3? No thank you.

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

The assassins from Fable II looked sort of like ninjas

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

i think i'll pass on the ninjas, but if we get pirates again we NEED the effin tri cornered hats. that really ****ed me off the first time!

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

O.o

I agree. Not actually ninjas, but hey, you got assassins dressed in black face-covering gear. What more do you want?

Also, hey! I haven't seen you in awhile, either! Freak and AK, both back and active within days of each other. A truly joyous occasion to offer our thanks for.

How do you know?

Did you see the picture of what's most likely Samarkan?
Looks a bit dry doesn't it?

Do you guys have any proof of this?
You all seem so sure, but have you read anything that actually backs this up?

All I know of is that picture that could be Samarkan (a desert like region)
plus the Will user guy from Fable 2 says Samarkan is nothing tropical, and he should know since he's from Samarkan.
I know Reaver says it's topical, but the guys a deuche and has never been to Samarkan.

I don't believe Samarkan is Asia and Africa mixed together, what a terrible idea - small black dudes who know kung fu, really?

Look at the description of any katana in Fable 2. It will say they are from eastern Samarkand.

I haven't seen that, but like I said-- Uzbekistan. Seems to fit with dry and flat.

Just general collections of mentions from F1 and F2. Nothing in specific. And I don't recall Reaver saying anything about it being tropical-- in point of fact, I don't think it is. I do recall Reaver describing it in a way vaguely reminiscent of certain stereotypes of the Middle East/Asia, and Garth getting irritated over his waxing melodramatic over the dusky-skinned beauties or whatever stupid ****.

A) That sounds mildly racist. B) I'm basing it on the fact that all the Samarkanders we've seen have been black and the fact that the real-world city of Samarkand is a currently-Uzbek city that was a major Silk Road trading center, and the descriptions in-game referring to katanas and such coming from Samarkand. Not much solid, no, but conjecture is fun.

Re: ninjas or no ninjas w/ expanation

They don't fit, though an asian country coming into the mix of the fable world would be nice, as it stands this will most likely be of European influence so don't get your hopes up. You'll have to settle with the next best thing: Assassins.
