No, Fallout 3, NOOOO!!!

Don't know if there have been any recent(if any) threads like this...BUT.
I need some help.
My step-father recently borrowed Fallout 3 from one o' his work buddies. I like Bethesda games, so I popped it in and got addicted really fast, even though I've never played 1 or 2.
In order to avoid any possible spoilers, I will make this vague.
In a certain part of the game, after I've found a certain special person, the quest took me to a certain city. Once at the city I save, then proceed to run towards my target. I ran through 2 doors, then proceeded to save my game, in case anything bad happened(due to my criminalistic nature).
I started to walk forward. Then, out of nowhere, he screen freezes up.
This was after about a an hour of gameplay.
The quest I was working on was part of the main quest-line.
The screen NEVER unfroze, so I rebooted the 360.
I reloaded my last save. About 3 seconds later, it froze yet again.
This happened to me about 4 times before I gave up.
I have cleared the cache. I have cleaned the disc.
The XBOX-LIVE on my XBox is used by my step-dad, so in order to not interfere with his saves, I am using an offline profile for my game.
If anyone has experienced a similar problem and fixed it, please help me out.
Thanks.

Re: No, Fallout 3, NOOOO!!!

Did you connect to Xbox-Live and download the small patches for Fallout 3 that automatically come up when you start the game? I know they've fixed a lot of bugs but not all.

Also, use the spoiler tags (the black lock in advanced reply options) and post the city and part of the main quest your on, along with what building you are in, since it's a vague description, there might be reported bugs in that area someone could help you avoid.

Okay...

I had just found my father after doing the quest in Tranquility Lane inside of Vault 116.
I quick-travelled to Rivet City, waited 10 hours, then ran inside towards the Science Lab to meet up with the Scientist and my father.

Yes, I downloaded the patch.
Then, I cleared cache and downloaded it again a second time...I haven't checked it again yet. I am going to let it stay off until I wake up tomorrow, just in case it was overheating(although that's unlikely)...

Re: No, Fallout 3, NOOOO!!!

Google says that downloading it onto your hard drive can fix some problems, but it seems it didn't. It lets me do anything I want in the start menu for however long I want. I turned off subtitles and it let me walk longer than normal before it crashed. I am going to restart the X-box, load my game, and try to go through the door that is behind me. Maybe it's the part of the building I am in. Then, once outside, I will try to quick travel to another location. That is, if I can get out before it freezes again.
Let's cross our fingers.

Sorry for the double post.

Re: No, Fallout 3, NOOOO!!!

By downloading, you mean installing?

Re: No, Fallout 3, NOOOO!!!

Yeah, I meant installing....
My sister wrote that ^^^ for me because I was, at the time, not willing to deal with slow interwebs.
This morning I turned it on, and yet again, it froze up...
I really don't want to quit on this game, because I'e got 15 hours in....The only other save I hae was 3 hours of gameplay before my latest(the glitched up one) and I reeeaaally hate re-doing long tedious missions multiple times...Especially if it were to mess up in the same spot...
Maybe I'll save up and get it on the PC...Then I can cheat my way to where I am REALLY easily.
lol.

Re: No, Fallout 3, NOOOO!!!

Installing it only shortens loading times and makes the game run smoother, I don't think it can do anything for a corrupted/bugged/****ed/glitched save

Re: No, Fallout 3, NOOOO!!!

Yeah...I'm giving up on that great game, for my sanity's sake...Back to marble blast ultra.

Re: No, Fallout 3, NOOOO!!!

funny, my Fallout 3 has been freezing up on me lately (for no apparent reason, disc looks perfect, every other game works fine, yada yada yada...) to. did Fallout 3 get a cold?

sorry I honestly can't offer any more advise than has already been given. mabey get lucky and it will suddenly work?
