Just last night during Half Time JD_2020, the community manager of Treyarch was asked if there would still be quick scoping in Call of Duty: Black Ops.

His reply:
”No. Quickscoping is a cheap way to play. We’re specifically going to gimp Quickscoping, sorry. Play straight-up!”

I personally love this decision, although quick-scoping is fun, it defeats the purpose of actually calling it a Sniper Rifle, you're not going to go into Iraq and see a Force Recon Scout Sniper jumping up and down, jumping in a 360 spin and randomly shooting, praying he gets a kill, if he doesn't then the guy he was shooting at is a noob and if he does get a kill then he's the no-scoping king, while his buddy records it all happening and posts it on You Tube with some techno/metal music and be all "LolZ mai gam3rtag iz "iiX N0Sc0p3 K1ddxxX"" that would just make him look like the biggest no life ever, kind of like the modern day no-scoping/quick-scoping community. The majority of the community wanted it taken out, while the small amount of quick-scoping children wanted it in. The majority wins. The fact people actually insult others for "hard-scoping" is pretty ****ing hilarious, HOW DARE YOU USE THE GUN IT WAS MADE TO BE USED! *facepalm*

Hopefully this decision will make the game more enjoyable to others now. :)

Thoughts?

Read this a while ago and thought it was a great decision as people complained about it so much since COD 4 it was about time it was balanced.

Good riddance! All that rubbish just wound me up, to be honest. How many snipers do you know that leg it round the battlefield and fire off their snipers like Revolver Ocelot? Exactly.

Yeah its meant to be about skill, timing and distance not just a quick shot with no thought.

I completely agree with this, and although Black Ops isn't high on my priority, I'm happy they made this decision.

Anyone care to take bets on how many of those kids call out hardscoping for camping?

Think i will get Black Ops for Christmas as i dont want to use my own money to fund Activisions money making machine and i bet the kids will complain yeah.

That's one of the reasons I don't wanna get it - it looks like a decent game, but I reckon they ripped off IW and Activision is bang out of order with what happened with IW.

The no-scoping community has already called out Josh Olin, and they are all feisty about it, it's so sad. They actually think the whole game is ruined because now they have to use the sniper like it was meant to be used. They can no longer dart around the map aim in, lock on, aim out, shoot and then spend five minutes bragging about how they got a kill from 50 feet away without using the scope.

I usually hardscoped anyway, most of My shots were taken from across the map so I took My time. Plus I liked to go for headshots whenever I could, it left Me with a guaranteed kill as well as a greater sense of satisfaction. From this aspect it was better to hardscope. As for quickscoping, I'm not going to miss it to be honest.

Good news, but I want to know how they are going to gimp it.
