Not Enough Abilites.

Just thought i'd like to have a whine about the limited abilites on Fable II seeing as it does not seem to get enough greif, also even if it takes a while to get from, for example grade 4 physique to 5 you can just grab a couple of Exp potions and not have to do anything.
JUst a bit gash that's all.

Re: Not Enough Abilites.

I think we all agree that Fable 2's abilities could be better, but our opinions on what needs changing might differ. My problems are:

1. Abilities gained by upgrading brutal and dexterous styles (more so brutal styles) are not useful enough. Most of the time I use the counter ability you get after getting 4 starts on brutal styles, it's an accident.

2. 4 and 5 star potions should not be bought in stores, only found while adventuring. It's too easy to just make some quick gold and go to the Bowerstone Market potion shop once 5 star potions are available, and get a sh*t load of experience.

3. More spells - plain and simple.

Re: Not Enough Abilites.

Damn straight about the whole thing.
The spells arent exactly.. interesting.

Oh look i can use a spell that shots blades at things, Wow look at me i actually am using a proper blade.

Raise Dead isnt exactly.. a good spell to be honest just makes you be lazy and not want to do things yourself.

Hopefully Fable III has some better spells etc etc in it.

Re: Not Enough Abilites.

The only spell I really like is the time manipulation thing. All the other spells (aside from chaos) are just different ways of doing damage against your enemies.

Oh and the way the spells are divided based on charge level sucks.

Re: Not Enough Abilites.

I don't really mind the spells they've put in place in Fable 2, I just want different kinds of them like TLC had, for example, ones that help with ranged and melee combat, as I've said many times before.

I also do think that there are some differences to the spells in Fable 2, however subtle they might be. Obviously time control, chaos, and raise dead have the same basic effect: enable you to charge your spell to a higher level while enemies surround you, whether by slowing time down, messing with your enemies' minds, or by keeping them busy with creatures you've summoned. The other 5 spells basically just cause damage, but with minor differences. Force push and blades have no additional effects, they only cause damage (though force push is cheaper in experience and weaker, and blades is more expensive and much stronger, especially the targeted effect). Shock stuns your enemies, allowing them to move for about one second before they get some sort of an 'aftershock' from the spell. This usually happens 2 or 3 times before they fall on the ground dead. Inferno burns your victims, which inflicts small amounts of damage after the initial spell has been cast for only a few seconds, and will not kill the victim. Vortex inflicts damage on your enemies while immobilizing them, sort of like both types of spells combined into one, but its damage and duration time are not anything special probably due to the dual effect.

i completely agree, You use inferno and kill six guys, you use shock and kill six guys BUT it was blue. thats all that was different with the skills.

Re: Not Enough Abilites.

It's not even just the magic though. Yeah the dextrous and brutal styles are a good idea but it doesn't take long to max them out. More so with the other abilities, physique, accuracy etc. It sort of renders any combat after half the game pointless.
