Oakfield Economic Stimulus (spoiler alert)
In another thread I mentioned that in my 2nd (evil) hero game, I did the Oakfield Massacre. In my 1st hero game I was good/pure and Oakfield was by far my favorite place.
After OM, I was devastated at what happened to Oakfield, even after buying all building/shops and going to the Spire.
So even though I am evil, I have set about testing the game to see if I can "rebuild" Oakfield by improving the economy.
I lowered all rents to -50, all shops to -40, I handed everyone in town $100 gold, I work at the woodchopper and bartender jobs (screwing up now and then so I don't really profit) and decorated all homes to total luxury furniture. I have bought out shops (produce, gifts, clothing and weapons) in Fairfax and Bowerstone Market and sold all to Oakfield. I then repurchase and resell to Bloodstone.
In the 3-4 months Albion time that I have done this, no lie, Oakfield is actually starting to improve.
1. The fields had no plants or anything. Now I see lines from sowing and some equipment appeared. One field has some plants.
2. Rabbits appeared.
3. Near fences, walls and near buildings there had been no or really brown crappy vegetation. Now there are dandelions and scattered blue flowers.
4. It was grey, cloudy/foggy. Now you can see the Spire and wispy clouds with blue sky peeking through during day and stars at night.
I will keep watching the progress and report if fully successful. If I am successful, I think I will do a new hero, perform the quest again and document the changes with camera.
If anyone else has done this, I would like to know. I find it fascinating that you do have such an affect and think that you could reverse it and make the good Oakfield crappy by reversing the whole thing and not doing the Massacre.
