Ahead of the release of one of the most highly anticipated games of the year Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Bethesda have announced that Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition will be released in the UK on September 23rd. The package includes DLC content and a map, details in full are as follows...

- The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion: With the empire ready to crumble, the gates of Oblivion open and demons march upon the land. You must find the lost heir to the throne and unravel the sinister plot that threatens to destroy all of Tamriel.

- Knights of the Nine: A fallen King has been unchained from the darkness of Oblivion to seek vengeance upon the Gods who banished him. Only a champion pure of heart can vanquish the evil that has been released.

- Shivering Isles: Enter the torn realm of Sheogorath - a world where Mania and Dementia reign. Do you have the strength to survive his trials, to tame a realm fraught with paranoia and despair, and wear the mantle of a God?

- Oblivion Game Map: A full-colour map of Cyrodiil and the Shivering Isles

- A bonus disc: Featuring a behind-the-scenes documentary on the making of Oblivion

If you have never played the game then might be worth the purchase before Skyrim if you want a cheap alternative before spending your cash. Though with hundreds of hours of potential playtime you might want to book some time off work or for those in education your studies will suffer.

Price is £19.99/€29.99 on PS3 and 360 and £14.99/€19.99 on PC.

I love how they make out like Knights of the Nine is even remotely interesting

But srsly, a bargain at twice the price as far as I'm concerned. Just a shame it has virtually nothing extra to offer from the GOTY edition aside from a making-of dvd, really. The map would appeal to me but then I'm happy with my current one...I want my own Oblivion gate as an extra

I had the making of DVD with my original Collectors Edition copy though ive never watched it and never tend to with any of the collectors/limited editions ive purchased.

Most of that stuff gets leaked onto YouTube eventually anyway...I'll admit sometimes I get interested in how a particular game is made but I'd rather play Oblivion than see how it was done. I just assume it was hard work, included a lot of talented people and cost money.

Ive watched some in depth interviews with the developers and stuff like that for many games but never usually bother with the bonus DVD's. Dont know why as its interesting but i guess if ive got the game id rather play the game and see things for myself rather than watch people talk about the game and things that didnt make it into the game. Watching them before a game is released just adds to the excitement of when i get my hands on it.
