Oblivion for PC - can I handle it?

Tsuyu here - saw a mate of mine play said game in his 360 - was hugely impressed. So I decided to get it for my PC, I sadly do not own a 360 yet. However, the game seems rather graphically demanding, and my computer might not be able to handle it.

So, for all you Oblivion PC users(I hope you all don't play on the 360 ), what computer are you using?

Personally I use a Radeon 9600(said to be supported), a Pentium 4 2.4 GHz processor aswell as 1.5G RAM...

Couldnt list all your specs could you or post a screenshot of them? Hard to say really from just those specs but i should think you could run it, just have to turn off things like Dynamic Lighting effects and the more demanding GFX tweaks.

Runs perfect on mine (except intro but think thats a GFX bug)

I got:

Processor: AMD Semperon 3100+
GFX Card: Geforce 6800GT 256Mb
RAM: 2 gig
Hard Drive: 120Gb

Re: Oblivion for PC - can I handle it?

I guess I could run a dxdiag...

Had to cut out what I thought was most important, it exeeded the post limit by far in how long a post can be!

Graphic Card - Radeon 9600, should be no problems. I read somewhere it was actually amongst the "recommended" or "supported" Graphic Cards.
CD-ROM speed..seriously, I don't know of anyone at these modern times who has had an error due to too slow CD-ROM.

That should be fine from what ive read there, some people with PC's that should be able to run it at 'Max' have had trouble though. Guess it all comes down to the invididual machine really...

Re: Oblivion for PC - can I handle it?

Haha. D'oh! The Devil lives in my PC - whatever problem you can name, my PC has/have had it. Even things that would be impossible according to the laws of reality.

Re: Oblivion for PC - can I handle it?

Hmm..where did you get the system requirements? Says 3GHz processor, but from what I can read it only needs 2GHz.. 3 would be for max quality then, no?

Stupid thing is my PC is MORE than capable of running it i just cant find out what the problem is!

I laughed inside when I read that - Welcome to my nightmare!

Does WoW have the GFX or Physics of Oblivion.... Hell No....

Re: Oblivion for PC - can I handle it?

Well, most of World of Warcraft's content lies on the servers, not the client PC.

Re: Oblivion for PC - can I handle it?

thats true!

Very nicely put ^_^ +rep

Re: Oblivion for PC - can I handle it?

ive heard it cost a lot of money to hold up servers...is this tru?

Re: Oblivion for PC - can I handle it?

Mmm..delicious rep. Been a while since I had a rep fix...Mmmm...

Anyhow: Any chances for a Oblivion demo? I bought NwN II a while ago, and boy - it is crappy. The system requirements are waaaay above what is stated, and the whole community moans about it - something is wrong when it comes to that.

And a simple demo would've saved me a couple of bucks...:(

EDIT:

Of course it does. Most MMORPGs's monthly fee isn't simple to get maximum profit, it's to pay for the upkeep of the servers and all that goes with it, like internet connection, gotta have a helluva internet connection.

Re: Oblivion for PC - can I handle it?

the FREE mmorpgs they ave item shops but people barely ever buy from it...how does it stay up?

I guess you mean FlyFF ^_^ And tons of people do buy out of their Cash Shop And the FREE mmorpgs servers are far less stable than the pay2play mmorpgs.... WoW's servers basicly only have downtime if scheduled, or a major disaster occurs.

FlyFF's servers are basicly a big gamble if you'll get on or not.

Re: Oblivion for PC - can I handle it?

ahh ok FlyFF is a piece of **** anyway! the only GOOD free mmorpg is silkroad online...no classes rock!
