Oxm Magazine Summary

I was looking for a copy of the magazine that i could buy, but unfortunately i could not find one, but going through another forum website led me to a summary of the magazine that has plenty of information

From NinjaX of http://forums.fable-2.com/showthread.php?t=3030

Well, here are my pics from the mag and some of the stuff I found out while reading it. Hope you enjoy...

Well, first off the game is going well as far as I can tell. P.Mo is being a stickler for details though apparently and has been changing tiny little things about the environment.

He says ''A film director doesnt shoot everything in sequence, and they always take much more footage than is ever needed. Its in the editing suite where everything eventually falls into place''

fableoxm002te1.th.jpg
''What we're aiming to do is create a real sense of drama. Infinity Ward did this with Call of Duty 4 and to get to that point its all about innovation''.

''We're taking all the techiness, things like hit points and weapon stats, and moving them to the back end of the game.''

At this point he demonstrates the use of spells and such like through the menu system (you might remember this from Fable I where you could choose spells in the Guild and check it out). Also points out that the mantra for Fable II is ''keeping it simple''.

fableoxm003wh2.th.jpg
The story starts with the sparrow as we already know...
smile.gif
But, thats also the nickname or 'title' of our plucky little character. The none interactive cutscenes make up ONLY 5 minutes of game time, the rest is pure YOU and interaction through conversation and cinematic.

And now we get to the good part and if you dont want spoilers LOOK AWAY NOW.
You are let off to do what you want in Bowerstone soon after and run into a woman named...Theresa! She gives you a magic box that will make ''wishes come true''. Also P.Mo then points out that your work as a kid will directly effect the game later.

The game then takes you to Lucien's castle as we know and he says the words ''Will you step into this magic circle''. Apprently this is a nudge and reference to Bioshock the magazine says.

fableoxm004on2.th.jpg
Now...your fast forwarded 10 years and are under the teaching of Theresa. You get your PUPPY! yes puppy! And you cant rename it...its just called 'dog' lol.

But heres the next best bit! The new dungeon!!!! You get to visit the old and destroyed remains of the Heroes Guild! Its got all the same places, and even all the murals from the time gone by and the defeat of Jack of Blades. Apparently an event shook the world and a cataclysm destroyed the Old World, making way for the ''age of enlightenment''.

The next area is Thargs Bandit camp, who has been taking the villagers of Oakvale hostage. (Twinblade anyone?) You get to see some neat environmental kills and such like which reward extra experience (you still have to suck this up by the way) and then get to fight Thrag himself. He even kicks your dog the vile cur of a bandit!!!

fableoxm005us9.th.jpg
(Those things there are called Hollow Men aka Zombies)

The magic is also revealed a bit more, we have...

Inferno (Fireball)
Time Control (Slow time)
Magic Blades (Ghost Swords)
Raise Dead (Ressurection)
Force Control (Force push?)

Oh yer, and when you kill Thrag you get a cool, cool slow motion style death
wink.gif

''We're replaced the time based multiplier with dynamic XP'' So basically the cooler the kill the more XP you get.

Now we get to death. ''One of the things we tried was giving players scars or permentant disfigurement if they were killed. But, focus testing showed that most people would rather reload their game than spoil their character''

fableoxm007xy2.th.jpg
The Punishment now therefore is that you lose all experience orbs that you failed to absord, which can prove as they say ''costly in the long run''.

Also, something not so nifty lol. They asked if co-op players can marry each other and he said ''No, thats one one of the features we left out''.

Some stuff about Alighment too...now its broken down into Purity and Corruption, Kindness and Cruelty as I think Naatika showed us in one of the vids she found. You can be 'good' and have a beautiful look, but be cold and hate filled on the inside (perfect!) Remember the task of he girl in the forest, well she is about to be stricked with a curse of terrible scars...thats that BIG choice.

fableoxm010vm4.th.jpg

the spoiler is new info about the actual gameplay
some of the major points starting from the beginning

1. PM is making several small changes to the environment to spice it up

2.They are taking more footage than they need

3. the menu is where you handle all of the spells like in Fable 1

4. Only 5 minutes of non-interactive cutscenes

please don't read if you dont want the story ruined
5. You find a lady called Theresa :noexpression: and she is the one who gives you the magic box

6. You are then brought to Lucien's castle where he asks "Will you step into this magic circle" refering to bioshock

7. You get your puppy while training for Theresa and you can not name it

8. You can then visit the ruins of the Heroe's Guild where you can find everything that was there before

9.The age after the age of heroes is called the age of enlightment

10. Next you go to Tharg's bandit camp a bandit king(twinblade?) where he takes oakvale citizens hostage and you get to kill Thrag, who kicks your dog, with a nice slow-motion death

11.the magic we know about already from Zammame

12. Now when you die you lose the experience orbs you could have picked up but didn't have time too, iam guessing there is still more to the death

13. One feature left out is marrying one of your co-op friends

14. Alignment is divided by kindness/cruelty and corruption/purity

15. and the BIG choice in the beginnig of the story is to whether or not take a curse for a woman that gives you scars all over your body

there you go, i just put the info into bullets for you

all of this is from NinjaX from http://forums.fable-2.com/showthread.php?t=3030 thanks ninjax

Re: Oxm Magazine Summary

CVG have recently spoken giving a couple more details from the mag.

CVG said:
Stephen Fry will be adding his voice talents to the already considerable voice over cast list, playing a legendary hero with a villainous streak. (already mentioned in this thread.)

Something called the 'create-a-henchman' function has also been unveiled, which enables a second player to create a sidekick in seconds and learn how to play within minutes.

The good and evil system has also been expanded to four traits, with the choices of purity/corruption and kindness/cruelty now available. (already well known by us on the forums)

OXM cites an example of when a beautiful girl is about to be stricken by a curse of terrible scars - do you save her by taking on this curse yourself? (CVG answer: Hell no!)

Also, your decisions change your appearance, there are no cut scenes, no HUD and no more bumpkin voice-overs.
