OXM pub games "review"

Your typical night at the pub involves talking about Eighties movies, staring but not talking to the opposite sex and eating urine-covered nuts at the bar.

At a stretch, it involves a few alcohol-fuelled games of pool and maybe drunk darts, until you're told to stop playing because the fat bloke sitting at the bar is getting bored of pulling wayward darts out his leg. It definitely doesn't involve playing Fortune's Tower, Keystone or Spinnerbox.

All of which is a long and elaborate way of saying, thanks for the idea Lionhead but this is dull. So very, very dull. Keystone is a sort of dice-based roulette, Spinnerbox is a gimped fruit machine and Fortune's Tower is... we have no idea what Fortune's Tower is. But none of those games are any fun, which is the point. You can earn gold for your Fable 2 warchest but it's little reward for the tedium you have to put in.

Fable II Pub Games is just a reminder that you'd be better off with the real thing than a tiny morsel on the side. Putting it another way, this is eating the urine-covered nuts without the night out. Boo.


Verdict:
Dull and disappointing, bring on the real thing

The pub games are a way to win gold. They come with Fable 2. It's not suppose to be an intense game. I thought their preview was uncalled for and very mean.:(

i agree. i bet they didnt even give them a chance, and they know almost nothing of fable. anyone who did would never say somthing like that. i just lost a lot of respect for OXM just now. and how can they say that when it hasnt been released to the public yet? very uncalled for. and they put way to much enfisis (cant spell) on "pub". who gives a **** if its like a pub game or not? im still geting live just for the games. skrew oxm.

i will stand by and defend PM and LH to the death.

Me to. I just think they don't understand Fable at all. I've lost all respect for them. Totally going to gamestop, from now on. It's not suppose to be a long intense game. It's just suppose to be a way to earn money. Wish they could be an enemy in my Fable 2 game. I'd really get them.^_^

ya, dont they realize its for us hard core fans to pass the time while we wait? just for that, im not gonna renew my subscription! and if thats in an issue, im gonna cut it out and burn it!

Exactly, those of us that are used to, playing pub games, in the first place. I bet they never even played Fable. I may end up playing those games and loving them, for all I know. I watched one video, with the pub games, and the sound effects of the other gamblers was really cool. It felt like I was really there. It's not like it cost a lot.
Maybe the guy that played lost.:P Maybe he was bad at it.

ya, from what iv seen, the pub games look very fun. i even tryed playing fortunes tower for real, its quite entertaining. and what do they mean they dont know what it is? its a very simple card game that, as far as i know, the geniesses (kant spel) at LH invented.

I know. It's Lionheads made up games, which I love.

What do you mean, you played one?

well, from the vids iv seen, the game is simple. draw cards from the top of the deck and lay them out in rows like a pyramid. first row one card, secound two, third three, and so on. you just keep doing this, and the farther you get, the higher your score. but if any two matching cards touch, you loose. so you see how many rows you can get.

example, pretend the letters are cards.

2 u m
3 d r g
4 h k d h
5 y k e w i

ok, see how the two "k"s touch diagnaly? that means you loose. but, two "h"s are on the same row, however, they dont touch, so its ok. the cards dont have to be diagnal either, just touch, and you loose. spacing out the cards does not count.

3 9 6 5

4 is touching 56799 and 6, but the 9s are not toughing. understand?

wow, i explaned somthing in a way someone could understand? that doesnt happen often, usually knowbody knows what im getting at, i tend to be a poor comunicator. perhaps i am begining to understand you humans afterall.

hmmmm. it didnt space out the letters and numbers as i intended. its suppose to be like a pyramid, or and equiladeral triangle, not a right tryangle as shown. could someone mabey provide a screenshot of fortunes tower? i do not posses the skills to do so. thanks. or mabey my explanation will do, any questions, just ask me.

lol thanks. :P im learnding im learnding! but ya its a fun game to play. its amazing how often two cards will match though. you would think they wouldnt, but they do.

now that i think of it, its the only game i can think of where you DONT want the cards to match.

Whoever wrote that "review" needs to be taught that those games are for Fable 2 gold, and not so much to be an awesome Pub game.. :rolleyes:

I will be looking forward to these Pub Games on the Marketplace though. It seems like its REALLY an effort making gold on Fable 2 :lol:.

i just realized, the pub games where never ment to be awsome, they are just for the fans of fable, and the people who intend to get fable 2 so they can get gold. whoever wrote this reveiw needs to be smashed in the head repeatedly with a piece of heavy mining equiptment. not to say they wont be fun, they will, but they are not ment ot meet the rediculusly high standards of whoever reviewed them. also, the reveiw is very poorly written, as it has almost nothing to do with the pub games themselves. its just some person bitching about how "they sucked" and "i dont know what the hell this is supposed to be". and that only comes after some bougus description of what they think a pub is supposed to be. did it even occor to this person that they are not trying to duplicate real pub games? has this person even heard of fable? i think not. i hope whoever wrote this gets fired.
