Photoshop-style programs?

Since I'm too poor to afford the real Adobe Photoshop, and since I'm interested in Graphic Design, are there any other programs similar to Photoshop, but without the pricetag?

it like...doesnt work sometimes....it freezes my comp and stuff. and when it does work, it doesnt right...so i took it off my comp

Just make sure that you don't download uTorrent, and go to Torrentspy.com - The Largest Bit Torrent Search Engine and download photoshop, because that would be against the forum rules
