Pirates 4? Yet Another Pirates Movie, perhaps?

There are rumors buzzing all over ign, and of course probably the whole internet, that there could be the slight possibility of another Pirates movie. Originally they planned on at least making six Pirates movies, and seeing as Johnny Depp would love to reprise his role as the infamous Jack Sparrow, it would be interesting. Of course, I'm sure that Elizabeth's(Kiera Knightly) and Will Turner's(Orlando Bloom) story will be over. Here's what the article I saw stated about a possible Pirates 4.

With Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End doing good business at the box office, it's no surprise to hear rumors about a potential Pirates 4. Series producer Jerry Bruckheimer has said the series could continue if the filmmakers can come up with a good story. Now there are rumblings online about what some of the plot ideas being kicked around are.

According to a scooper for CinemaBlend.com, Johnny Depp is all but set to reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow (for a $35-40 million payday, they claim). Also reportedly expected to return are co-star Geoffrey Rush and director Gore Verbinski, although the latter has made it clear to some that he's done with swashbuckling. Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom are not expected to be back, but that's been assumed for sometime. The site adds that production might not begin until sometime between 2009-2011.

CinemaBlend's scooper claims "the fountain of youth story [introduced at the end of Pirates 3] might not be the only story they might use the next pirate's film. The fountain story could be used in another form to introduce the story for Pirates 4."

They add that, "Some of the brainstorming going around involves some Jules Verne type of scenarios involving some pretty big flying machines, a man who wants to rule more than just the ocean, an encounter with the most famous and dangerous pirate of all, a race to get to a lost world (Hint, Hint) and Jack and his crew going to where no pirate has gone before (No, it's not space but Disney had made animated movie about this place before with Michel J Fox voicing one of the characters)."

Jack Sparrow discovers Atlantis?! Time will tell.

Honestly it would be interesting to see another Pirates, if they made another one, but I'm happy with just three.

Awesome! Even if they are just rumours at this stage, it's still nice to know that there's at least a possibility of a fourth Pirates being made in the future. Best Disney series ever by the way.

This might sound crazy bro, but I felt Pirates 3 was a good ending of the series. I mean, it's not "Happily ever after"...but I sure did like how things changed and characters changed.

Jack is off to another adventure, Will Turner is now the new Davy Jones, Elizabeth waits for him every 10 years, it's a suitable ending.

Might sound lame , but I don't know really :lol:

EDIT: Well, maybe they could pull off another one. I like the whole Atlantis...fountain of youth thing going on here. I just hope the movie doesn't confuse its viewers. I mean, it didn't confuse me...but you know what I mean XD

NO! Please don't make a fourth one, just let it DIE! Sure, the third one was good, but I can't imagine what they would do with a fourth one, not to mention it would be more comfusing than #3.

I agree about Harry Potter.

As far as movies goes these days, it seems like 3 is the lucky number(sometimes), and I think they should just stick with 3. However, if the storyline is good and it's got a good script then I would like to see a little bit more perhaps. Maybe the movies will turn out to be prequels per say, and we get to see more behind Jack's and Barbossa's past. I don't know, it really all depends, I suppose.:hmm:

In any case, I think that if people honestly want to make sequals (and not just for money, but because they actually WANT TO) and they leave some things open, then it's fine. Seriously, most of the complains I heard about Pirates 3 (having seen it myself and loving it) were kinda dumb.

The first person to complain about everyone yelling "Fire!" will need a history lesson >_<"

I mean, for God's sake, although it's not quite the same situation Terry Pratchett continues to write Discworld books with a great deal of praise (of course, they don't all have the same characters or situations). Once my first book is released I hope to write a heckuva a lot more because I've fallen in love with the world I've created >_<" But it CAN be done well. Really as long as they don't make Will and Elizabeth more or less the center of the story again I won't mind.

We're done with that story arc. There can be others that don't involve it and perhaps don't even require knowledge of it.
