Pirating my Democratic rights!

I just found out that in my country South Africa, making copies of dvd/s of anime/mp3/Games/movies is illegal even if you own the original. I 'm a bit of a collector so keeping the original scratch free is a hassle.

I'm a bit ****ed now.:realmad:

That doesn't seem at all fair... you should be able to make copies of things you own legally :hmm:

I dont think you'll get into trouble of you dont sell them.

I mean, if you dont, who is ever going to know that you make copies?

No, you don't understand, I make copies to keep the originals from scratching, but that is illegal here even If I own it.

Stuff that is not licensed here you don't get into trouble though, say if I buy a fansubbed anime or like that.

That sucks - I like to back up all my stuff just in case anything happens to it.

If it's on your PC, can you use something like Virtual CD instead, or would that be classed as illegal too?

I don't know. It's just Illegal to own any copies of copywrited materials. I wonder how they will handle mp3's etc.

I don't know what else to suggest - if it's not allowed, I guess you have to abide by the rules...
