Play.com date was a lie

weirdkidinabox recently posted that play.com announced fable 2 wiull be releaseed on the 30th May. well im sorry for all you high hopes because the data it now shows is
12/12/2008 oo happy days
dont believe me. look right here

Saw them change that the other day, never believed it for a single moment anyway.

The release date is either too early or too late with these people. No attention should be made to any release date until it is officially announced, which will hopefully be soon.

I couldnt agree more, speculation is always thrown around with release dates but until its confirmed by Lionhead im not going to pay attention to any.

You can bet Play.com gave a false Fable 2 release date so they could get a few extra pre-orders. I mean, if you knew that Fable 2 was going to be released within a month or two, it would help ensure that potential customers hurried up an ordered themselves a copy. I dunno. That's my theory anyway.

Thats about right, people see a release date on a site and would be more inclined to preorder from them rather than a site that still has TBC/TBA instead. Doesnt matter if the release date is true, people would just be more tempted to place the order with that place rather than another.

I didn't really believe it all that much to start with either. I mean, a game with as much of a fanbase as Fable 2 doesn't just all of a sudden happen right away without the public eye getting more information and more of the facts. It'd be almost like Halo 4 (hypothetically) coming out without anyone noticing... almost, that is.

yeah, im not goin to believe it unless PM says its correct, and PM said "when the leaves are brown but are still on the trees" as in fall (September October or November)

Dude seriously whats your problem, I posted the article because it was a 'guesstimate' release date set by a site- it was never officially announced nor did I say it was. I took it as a given that people wouldn't assume it was associated with Lionhead at all because generally I tend to credit people with some form of intelligence. Another one of the reasons I posted it was because I had never seen another site put up a release date that was so early. If people got their hopes up for that release date its their own fault because anybody with half a brain in their head knows the only official release date is the date given by the game developer that has actually been announced.

An yes play.com changed the date a short while after I put up the post but whats the big deal, did this really warrant a thread? if you don't believe that play.com had the date set as 30th May 2008 then I can scan you the cataloge I received. The post is edited now, big whoop.

i just wanted people to know that the play.com site wasnt giving the right release date, and that it had changed wyhich would make it impossible to say it is the real realese date. I have no problem just thought people ought to know, does it hurt you that much?

Nah, I just found it a bit pointless to create a thread about it to be honest. People obviously know its not the official release date due to the fact that the first date was so close, and secondly- play.com is not lionhead studios therefore they only guess what date the game is coming out- just like every other company offering a preorder service for Fable 2 right now.

Majority of people who know anything about games know that preorder dates are only estimated until the developer has officially announced the release date.

Plus I dont know if I posted in the first 14 days prior to the contest beginning... I fail@life lol.

Would be nice to win a copy but I'd rather see it go to somebody more deserving mate, if i go back to Uni I wont have a console with me to play it :( and Ill probably get my parents to procure it for me for Christmas anyway lol.
