I believe in socialism. It has worked for our country for decades now and I'm pretty happy with it. Social security and all that good s***. However, the Left in Sweden are also a bunch of politically correct morons who'd love to see us all invaded by Islam in the name of multi-culturalism.

There are certain fringe parties I would consider, Svenskarnas Parti (Swedes' Party) because they are fed up with this Islam nonsense will take action; non-violent action, of course. However, they are also a Right-wing party with all the disgusting Christian homophobia and other nasty baggage that comes with it. I HATE the Swedish Right-wing parties.

Would it be right to sell your soul to a lesser evil if the lesser evil vanquishes a far greater evil?

No, it isn't right. As nice as it sounds, taking one extreme over the other isn't going to help. Ask yourself, do you really want to support a bunch of homophobic right-wing nutbags just to get rid of a problem? No matter what your views on Islam are, choosing a party that is, at best, a lighter shade of black, isn't the right way to deal with it.

But no-one else is even willing to admit that our insane policies in dealing with Muslims are ridiculous. It is very unfortunate that people that have their eyes open to the Islam problem are associated with the Right wing and Neo-Nazi movements - or the worst of the worst; Anders Breivik. I've had real-life "friends" almost punching me in the face when critiquing Islam because they have been conditioned by the media to see people who do as the most intolerant bigots ever.

Here is an example of how crazy it has gotten: a Swedish girl was gang-raped by a bunch of Muslims and the first reactions of the politically correct was to stage an anti-racism rally! An anti-racism rally! Because in these idiots' eyes, when three dark-skinned men rape a white Swedish woman, their feelings is what matters. They are somehow the victims here. Their feelings must be spared! They don't deserve to have their feelings spared, they deserve a punishment fitting their archaic religion and values.

Something Spanish Inquisition-esque.

edit: Ignore what I posted before.

Ok so those guys are being idiots, but I doubt promoting aryan purity is better. Aren't there people in the middle. Why is it one extreme or the other?

They're not thugs, nor fascists. Svenskarnas Parti is a legit right-wing party that dares to criticize Islam and our immigration policies, which is a good thing. However, like most right-wing parties they are inherently very big on "Christian values" which means they are against gay rights.

If there are any fascist thugs around it is the youth groups of the Left-wing parties, ironically. They're the ones who go out and beat up members of parties like Svenskarnas Parti and go scotch free because they were acting under the banner of politically correctness and, after all, they were just beating up people who criticize Islam - the worst kind of people on Earth!

As for doing something, I would love to. But that's just it, I'd love to find a party or organization that shares my ideals and values, but none does. I'm inherently Left because I'm a socialist, but I'm drawn towards this particular aspect of these Right-wing groups whilst shunning the others... I'm not a Nazi and I believe strongly in gay rights.

Picking a political party is, in my view, very difficult. Not least because they are all liars. But mostly for me it's because whereas I fully support certain aspects of their policies, there are some which are distasteful to me.

Locally, I vote for whichever party has done the most good for our community - currently, that's the Liberal Democrats. But nationally? Not a clue. I spend ages researching and reading around the various parties and their associated policies but at the end of the day, I kind of ended up closing my eyes and playing pin the tail on the party in the voting booth.

Rights are a tricky one for me because in supporting one particular set, you are denying another group theirs. So where does it end? We seem to live in a society that encourages people to bleat on about their rights at the expense, it would seem, of our human responsibilities towards one another - that and basic common sense.

Politics is too much of a minefield for me to understand and I won't pretend to understand any of it. But insofar as voting goes, I believe I have a responsibility to select a party with as much forethought to the voting process as possible - it may not be the right choice, but at least I've made one with some sort of prior research involved. For me it's not about picking the lesser of the evils, although at times it may feel like that, but rather picking a party that most closely runs in the same direction as me, even if some of the views are not quite similar enough.

I never said you were a Nazi, but you said they were associated with the right wing, and I assumed that if they were anything like british far-right parties, then they would racist ignorant thugs. Honestly, Swedish politics sounds messed up, but wouldn't it be better to join the left-wing, and encourage a more stricter stance on Islam while supporting socialism. You might be hated for it, but somebody in the left wing has to say it, if people on that end of the political spectrum are unwilling to accept anything different.

You seem like a nice guy, and I wish I had more helpful advice, but I suppose it shows how messed up the system is when a socialist is seriously considering joining a right-wing party, at the cost of having to go along with their homophobic policies.

I never said you were a Nazi

Never meant to imply that you were, but to find people with a similar view of Islam you often end up with Neo-Nazis (who often are Right-wingers) since those guys tend to hate everyone, just like the guys you mentioned. So what I meant to say is that while I agree with them on the fact that letting Islam to sprout roots here in Sweden is dangerous because they are quite vocal and demanding about being allowed to practice their very non-democratic and inhumane religion, I certainly can't agree with them on their other views and beliefs.

Come to think about it, it is ironic how these groups often are anti-Islam and anti-Semitic since traditionally you either hate Israel or you hate Palestine. Nice of them to see beyond their differences and just hate them both equally.

It's best to just have your own views without applying the term 'left' or 'right' to yourself, terms like those are over simplified and lump groups of drastically different beliefs into two monstrous Leviathans that headbutt constantly for dominance. Terms like left and right just shouldn't be used anymore, they just mash people who don't belong together into one group to give one side a number advantage over the other.

I'm probably a socialist myself more than anything, I advocate support from the state to struggling, disabled people etc and believe in equal rights for all. However you would never see me in a room sipping tea with a bunch of identity politics fanatics who have nothing better to do than whine about how their kind automatically has it worse than everyone else just because of their Race, gender despite the fact that they live in a democratic modern country that gives them the same rights as the rest of us. < these people are nothing like me, yet we're both labeled as 'left' like we're the same or something, it's insulting honestly.

Rely on yourself Tsuyu, keep your integrity and stick to your beliefs as an independent force. If you throw yourself under someone else's banner people automatically confuse you for them and you get dragged down with them.
