Post Editing

I've been having a great deal of trouble editing any of my posts lately. Sometimes I'll get the Java Error like everyone else. but then sometimes I'll try to go to "More Options" to see if that fixes the problem but instead I get sent to a blank white page that says:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 262144 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 140 bytes) in /home/isdrbbbr/public_html/forums/library/Zend/Registry.php on line 209

I'm not sure why, but it's driving me insane, I've had to double post twice.
Yes I realize I must wait 6 seconds or whatever before I can post again, but I'm trying to edit posts that are 21 minutes old. I've tried refreshing, going to google home then coming back and it still gives me this error circle.

When I finally get to 'More Options' and try to save changes, I'll get the Java Error Once more.

so my Problem goes in order

Java Error > Fatal Error > Normal Page > Java error, rinse and repeat.

Hmm mabey I'm not posting enough, I havnt had this error except just before I replied to this thread when I tried to edit my marketplace post, I refreshed and then it worked, is the java error really common?

Lol never know lol, mabey we can narrow down the problem - what operation system you running and what browser are you using?

Windows XP, and internet Explorer.

No Firefox is not an option. My Firefox is dead, and my computer hates it. it runs SOOOO slow when I use it now so.

Google threw me up alot of randomness lol - http://www.phpexpertsforum.com/fatal-error-allowed-memory-size-of-262144-bytes-exhausted-t1882.html - found that link mabey that solution will help ( if not have you considered using chrome, ive recently started using it becasue im like you with a horrible laptop and chrome doesnt use much memory )

Woah, I don't get that much error :O I would use chrome, but I like having my links at the top. I like it but I might have to get used to it before I use it.

Yeh there was a bit floating around about java and php forums but the internets a large place XD, have you tried loading I.E without add-ons for a test trial?

don't know about the fatal error, but i've definitely been getting that javascript error with edits.

something else i've noticed... when making multiple edits i need to hard refresh between each one. otherwise the window pops up with the original. firefox 4 beta/chrome here.

I've gotten this exact same error, but only once, and the use of the Back button and then attempting to save changes again made it work. However, when editing, advanced posting, and previewing a post.. I am now getting the Java Script Error very frequently. ):

You know... I'm beginning to think that this is all karma for GrimWhim. He swore he'd make us pay, we should've been nicer to him.

What bothers me to all hell is when I spend a lot of time perfecting a post, getting the phrasing and everything just right, clicking Post Reply, getting the fatal error and my message is gone. That makes me sad.

Same, what I decided to start doing was to copy & paste my posts into Wordpad before posting.

I think I jynxd myself lol, cant edit my post in the marketplace and my topic "my trade thread" but seconds before I was able to edit my post in "traitors' Dlc" ?? ( even tried changing from my desktop running 64 bit -vista to my laptop running 32bit -vista and getting the same javascript error )

I think sometimes it has to do with the amount of texts you're editing. but I'm not sure. Sometimes it seemed like when I had to edit a large post, I'd get the error, while tiny posts wouldn't give me any trouble.

Mabey thats what it is, Ive edited two smaller posts but when I try to edit "my weapons thread" which is rather long I get the error, and I tried to create a new thread there now in generaal discussion and it would let me post it, could be a javascript error on the length of the post, well spotted :

Yes, I think it does. I can not post a reply or edit a post if it has a large quantity of characters in it, but I'm having no problems with posts that are short (50-500 characters, quotes included). Attempting to make a large post (in quick reply) gives me a server error about the Java script console, and clicking the "More Options..." button gives the error page you've been getting and only that.

Last night I was dicking around with post size trying to find the character threshold. It was somewhere between 940-950. Unfortunately many of my posts far exceed that.

Thanks for saving me some time, had planned to find the thershold myself but you save me the bother lol.

Except trying to create a thread, 89 words, 368 characters and 458 characters with spaces and still wont let me post it? Could be different for different people perhaps.

maybe images come into play as well? Too many images, not allowed to post? Not sure. Hope someone figures this out. A lot of posts are going to be unposted. (smiley faces are considered images as well. I remember from the "5 image" cutoff we had a while back. signature and all)
