There are many sources I found to prove of this:

Prince Of Persia: Big Things Expected Of Prince Of Persia Movie - Kotaku
Prince of Persia Movies Finally Moving Along for 2008 « FirstShowing.net
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time (2009)
Michael Bay Directing Bruckheimer's Prince of Persia Movie! « FirstShowing.net
And so on

Said in the sources, this film will be using the outline of the games, not the direct storyline. It will be produced by Bruckheimer, and directed by Bay. I feel this is going to be a great movie, seeing as how Jerry B. wants this to be a successor like Pirates (1,2, and 3)

I also saw some art for it on a GI issue, it looks great. And seeing the work, it seems like it's staying true to the games in terms of look. Now, of course, some people are saying, "Well, I bet since it's a Disney movie...it won't be as kick ***!". I beg to differ. Look at Pirates, it had a lot of violence in terms of action, and it was a Disney movie. I mean, violence doesn't just mean gore.

I hope for a lot for this, but it won't fit the post

Why would I care? because I thought the PoP series had a strong storyline...and awesome game play. Also, Prince is my inspiration (Assassin...Prince of Persia...identical?).

What am I stoked about for this movie, well not only the casting and the story...but the killer acrobatics and slitting of throats!:D

Can't wait for this movie. By the way, it's said to become a series, possibly a trilogy I guess.

How a movie is awesome: Slitting of throats:ninja:

Well its damn better than a flop like Blood Rayne or Resident Evil. And it's coming to pass that Disney movies aren't just mickey mouse and happiness, if you didn't get the flow. Prior to some views, I believe in not just a movie with good action, but storyline and acting. The concept art looks amazing, by the way.

And also, keep in mind Bruckheimer produced the Pirates series. Not only will this movie have a popcorn-worthy flow in terms of writing and great effects, but it will have the great action and intense thriller sense of Michael Bay. Both together would be the same sense as Lucas and Speilburg, when I say that I mean both make good movies, and together the movie will be legendary....or awful.

In reply to Andy, yes...I know they aren't making a Devil May Cry. But honestly, I could never see it being a movie. Don't get me wrong, its a kick *** game. Just my opinion.^_^ Maybe DMC could be a movie, we'll see (Honestly, I would turn in some bucks to see it on the big screen)

Prince of Persia has a great story-wise aspect. Unlike Resident Evil, Doom, etc. It's artistic, rather than just guts and bullets. And, one site sneakingly got the Prince of Persia script (keep in mind, this has been in production and development since 2004), they said it's in the same writing brilliance as Indiana Jones. We would all expect this, because Bruckheimer is producing it.

Don't get me wrong, I like Bruckheimers work, but you have to admit that it was totally expected...

Re: Prince of Persia Movie Announced in 2004, Why Did I Miss This?

Hmm...let's just hope it's better than a lot of other game movies. Perhaps having Bruckheimer will help, but it depends. I just hope this doesn't turn out to be another bomb.:(

Re: Prince of Persia Movie Announced in 2004, Why Did I Miss This?

So it was announced in 2004 and it's still being made?

Re: Prince of Persia Movie Announced in 2004, Why Did I Miss This?

The only game based movie that i am looking forward to is gears of war.

Re: Prince of Persia Movie Announced in 2004, Why Did I Miss This?

I hope Industrial Light and Magic do the visuals and effects since they are incredible at that. I'm also wondering about cast as well.

Oh and on that link to the Firstshowing.net...they're making another Hellboy movie?:( Sorry, but noticed that.

I wonder why it's taken them so long to do this, if it was announced in 2004. I know movies take a year or two sometimes longer, but wow. Maybe some good ideas on the way or something.:ninja:

Re: Prince of Persia Movie Announced in 2004, Why Did I Miss This?

Well I can't wait.
It would be really cool if they do this in three parts like Pirates. Mostly 'cause I want to see a movie about Warrior Within. That was the best out of all the Prince games I think. Especially with the gothic setting and the Da'haka (or however you spell that..... ^^;..). And Godsmack could do the sound track like they did with the game.... can you say best movie/ game crossover ever?
It will be good. It has to be. Thanks for bringing that up! ^^
+rep for that.

Ha ha...Andy. That's how I am with Halo.

In reply to Phoenix, the special effects crew from the pirates movies are partaking in the Persia movie, I believe. At least, that would make sense :noexpression:

A bunch of movies, especially movies based on games or books, takes a year or so to get rights...a good script...a cast. And after that, you need to shoot the scenes...and do the effects. But before that, you need to get the right crew...from chefs, to stunt experts. I reckon that's the case.

And I dig the risks for this movie. I love the challenge on seeing if its good or not, waiting for the bad and good reviews. If its bad, oh well. If its good, thats rad.

Prince has a lot of potential as a storyline, and using the Sands of Time as a key factor in the movie, is very original. So, we'll just have to wait and see.

About the Hellboy ideal, I'm glad they're making another movie. It's about damn time, eh?

Honestly, all I'm worried about for Prince of Persia is the cast...I hop they can find a good Prince, especially one who can do some serious stunts and sword fighting.:ninja:

Yay, so ILM is doing the special effects! Awesome.

I'm starting to have a better feeling about this movie for some reason. I mean the storyline is huge and yeah I'm sure they can tackle it and make it pretty spectacular, but let's just hope.:)
