Problem withtreasre island of Doom

I am at the last part of the quest where need to dig up last chest my dog is stuck in some kind of quest mode where he does nothing but sits back at the boat so he won't help me find where to dig.

So I am wondering if anyone has like either a pic of where to dig or can just give me some pretty good general directions been trying for about 20 minutes just randomley digging. Any help would be great thanks.

Theres only 1 dig spot. Try starting game up again and holding A to clear cache.

Just tried that and no good my dog just sits there and barks and it says quest over his head but he is not showing me a dig spot so if you can just help me get closer to the dig spot like is it way north, south, west or east of tree anything directions at all and I think could find it eventually.

I ran across one place where my dog was digging, and I couldn't get it, I'm thinking I won't be able to, until further in the game. Like in TLC, I never could get a certain item, because of my alignment, in their graveyard. Just a thought.
I gave my dog a treat, and moved him on, he was distracted. :unsure: Unless it's a glitch? Haven't been on a ship yet.:O

So I appear to also have been glitched here.
I was killing the bugs that are around the tree, one latched onto me and I threw it off, and I couldnt attack it afterwards. So I ignored it, opened the chest behind the tree, then saw the dog telling me to dig. While I was digging, the bug latched onto me again, and when I threw it off I killed it. The dog no longer digs in that spot and I have gotten every other chest in the area. I have spent the last 15 or so min digging around the spot where the shovel is in the dirt. I am pretty sure I am screwed.
Also, I "cleared the cache" and double checked all my other chests, I got them all.

As far as I know there's eight chests, a dig spot, and a dive spot. Unfortunately, the game ****ed me up and didn't acknowledge my dig and dive spots so now there's permanently two I can't get, therefore preventing me from finishing this...

If you do not have your dog during this quest, the dig spot is replaced by a chest. The chest is just right in front of the dig spot.
