Pub Games

im sure by now everybody knows the score with the pub game glitch?
you hold LB as soon as youve pressed A to deal the cards in fortune towers so the game thinks your betting 10x the amount you started with ( betting 15 will make the game think you bet 150 etc ).. but the great peter molyneaux has stated that the glitch was there on purpouse and for all those losers that used it, their characters will have something horrible happen to them.. hmmmm:lol:

anyway

i would like to know, and this goes out to everyone that has pub games or knows how it works, how you get your rankings up and an easy way to be in the top 5 in tournaments.
im a whizz at keystones, ive came 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th :D
but with spinnerbox and fortune towers i always seem to start off great and lose it all.
i knwo spinnerbox is just luck and if you press A you reveal alter the spin etc but even so that still comes down to luck.
id like to know how im supposed to boost my rankings to unlock things. ( so far ive unlocked a bed, an apple pie, a book about laughing, and a hairstyles ( plaits/ braids ) but i need other thimgs like the weapons and the magic ring.

IF ANYBODY KNOWS OF ANY STRATEGIES TO HELP ME BOOOST MY RANKINGS PLEASE LET ME KNOW EITHER ON HERE OR ON

Fortune's Tower Tournaments:

With these strategies I've been able to make it to the second round of FT tournaments 95% of the time and come in first or second 90% of the time.

First, as Rol said, if you lose the gate card get out! Take the loss and try again. My strategy is getting 8+ is when I would take the loss, getting 1-5 points I will hit again and 6 or 7 will depend on my gold, the AIs gold, what row it is, what hand it is and if I'm in the first or second part of the tournament.

Now, when you're working your way through the tournaments, make sure you know how many number cards are in the deck vs. the knights. This will give you a good indication what would happen if you tried to press your luck and hope a knight came to save you.

The key, I found, is to really base your decision not on just the cards, but what the five other AI players are doing. Countless times I have been behind by 500 or more gold only to win it because the AI's got greedy OR what is most likely to happen, a bad spell of double burns in the second row of flipped cards.

Ultraconservative betting is not 100% guaranteed , as one jackpot that you miss out on effectively will put you permanently behind. This is a tactic best used in one situation: You are 1,000+ gold ahead of the 2nd place AI opponent. But, if you do find yourself in that situation (and you're still in the first round) start maxing out the bets because it doesn't matter how far you're behind at this point because second place in the first round is as good as last place!

Don't always go for the jackpot, you're going to get burned a huge percentage of the time. If you get high numbers 21+ in the second flipped row or 30+ in the third or fourth flipped row, more often than not, you should take it.

Keeping track of cards is helpful in that if one row has 5 different number cards you have 5 different cards to get burned on twice! Or if you see a lot of one type of card already put down you know it's not likely to come up again, same goes for knights etc.

If you haven't had any knights in the first four flipped rows (and your playing with a deck that has the smallest number card to knight ratio, then you may want to press your luck. It doesn't work all the time but for the payout I've found it worth it.

Betting the max amount every time is not a good option, it gets you into trouble more than it helps. But, if you can vary the max bet and hit some good numbers and start betting more conservatively, then you will optimize your earning potential.

This next one comes down to gut feeling... I've been in situations where I was behind by 30-200 gold or ahead by that amount during the final hand. I had to make the choice to bet big/small and how long to stay in. This is where counting cards, the players' numbers and betting amounts comes through. If I'm 200 ahead I'll usually bet the amount that, if I lose it, will still put me head (up 200, bet 150 etc.). The smaller the the gap the harder to decide it will become. Most often, I've found it better to bet conservatively because the last hand the AIs seem to bug out and go for broke or at least bet in the mid-range. Since FT, like all casino games is tilted toward the house, more often than not the AI will lose and you'll come out ahead. It's counter-intuitive maybe but it works for me.

On the subject of doubles/triples/even the rare quad bonus:

For doubles: 14+points you should take (if you've managed to bet high/max when they hit)
Triples: 18+ points you should take (" ")
Quads: 16+ or more you should take (" ")

Again, I'm a more conservative player so this is what I find works for me. 168,000 gold I've made from playing FT. This is not a lot compared to some people but I do not play that often or for very long when I do. I'm not sure how some of these people manage to earn 300,000 in a week without the glitch in FT. I asked one of them once and they told me to ****k off. So don't expect any tips from them.

This knowledge is based off of the 5 star tournament with a 500 gold buy-in and the lowest number card to knight ratio. (1st = 7,400 gold; 2nd= 5,500 gold; 3rd= 2,400 gold; 4th= 1,850 gold; 5th=1,300 gold)

@ ihatehobbes: What's your strategy with keystone?

So what's the trick you use for keystone then? That's the only one I haven't won yet.

Re: Pub Games

for the keystone dont bet anything jsut skip and if you see the top 5 people go up way to high for them to drop below you leave the table and try again i think the most i had to do this was 5 times but i restarted at the begining

or pick a number i picked like 7 i think a number that has decent odds but when it lands it give you tones of money and just put all your money on it every time... (the top strategy is better)

Re: Pub Games

Thanks for the info! Going to go try it right now!!! Now that I'm off work...

Re: Pub Games

For keystone I place an arch bet on either 3 or 18 and then I just bet max on the bottom row (all triples). Once you get one payout it is usually so high that you will easily be in the top 5 and I stop betting on the rest. Takes 3 games tops and the ones you lose you can cash out by the 2nd round.
