Question

For Fable 3, the release date for the UK is 29-10-10
For the US its the 27?-10-10

all i know is that its before the UK. As lionhead is a British studio why have they chosen to release it in America before their own country? Surely as the studio is British they would relase it here first?
(no offence to American people im just curious)

Re: Question

That isn't Lionhead making such decisions. The production company (Microsoft) Made this decision about the release date.

Re: Question

Its something to do with release dates in UK and US as for some reason US release games on a Tuesday and UK release them on a Friday. Only a handful of games have broken this tradition and last one i can remember was Halo 3. Which was released simultaneously on the Tuesday. I dont think its just the publisher that has a say in it i think there are deeper factors elsewhere too.

Re: Question

yeah, the new halo is out on a Tuesday whereas Fable 3 is out on a Friday..

Same will happen with Halo: Reach. September 14, Tuesday. Yes, there are factors such as retailers, worktime and many other factors that the production company has to consider. (plus when the production version of the game is ready to be sent into production)

Ive never fully understood the ins and outs of it but its the way its always been. Im glad some developers and publishers manage to get some games out at the same time everywhere. Can be annoying when friends abroad have got a game in advance and have already blitzed it and either got decent amount of story done or got levelled up in online aspect before the games even out here. Thats why i try and stick with a particular game store that ships the games early to make sure they get there on release and often they arrive 2 days early (1 day after release of game in US).

Yeah i was happy about that as im really looking forward to the game and want to get some co-op done with some friends. Dont want them completing it and then telling me whats coming next on every level while im playing it with them. Was some rumours a while ago that some retailers had already started selling the game and Microsoft were considering bringing forward the release also because of a leak that had put the full game online for download.

That was simply a rumor. Microsoft wouldn't ever push forward the release of a game even if someone pointed a gun on their heads. Some time is required before a game gets released, it's not simple to cause a game to be releaser sooner than the schedule.

Also that wasn't a retailer, someone in puerto rico was selling copies of Halo: Reach on the streets. However, rumors say that Microsoft is investigating the matter.

I knew the release date thing was a rumour but its been reported that some retailers had sold copies early.

I am sure that was some random fuss created on purpose. Such things are expectable. I believe someone wants Halo: Reach to be in the spotlight before its release.

I dont think it needs much spotlight as the world and their dog would have heard of it by now. That and the fact its getting Microsofts biggest advertising campaign ever behind it.

Deviated from the topic a little too. :P
