RTS are one of my most favorite game types of all time. If you don't know (which I am sure everyone here does), an RTS game usually tasks you with getting resources, training and upgrading armies, then fighting.

Ones of which come to my mind are:
WarCraft II: Tides of Darkness
WarCraft III: Reign of Chaos
Age of Empires I
Age of Empires II + Expansion
Age of Empires III + Expansion 1 and Expansion 2
StarCraft + Brood War
StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty
Rise of Nations

Of those, I have to say my favorite is Age of Empires III and both of its expansions. It may have something to do with the fact they're a bit more realistic than the others. But SC use to be good, so did WC, but I am not very interested by fantasy an sci-fi.

I will say I love the Protoss the SC, and always played as them. I loved the whole idea of them. They were the strongest of the three races, but were so expensive and slow to train (but I know... they're suppose to be for balancing issues).

Yourself?

I like RTS games too :)

Right now i play a hell of a lot Starcraft2, but I also like Age of Empires (all of them), All command and conquer games, Dont like warcraft that much but played it sometimes.
Have you got Starcraft 2? Toss aint the best anymore in my opnion :P Just build up some marauder for ground and vikings for the air units and they are owned in no time xD

I have played SC 2, but only for a little while. I had a short demo for it, using a second CD-Key from someone else that let a friend play it for like 20 hours or seven days... something.

Protoss I like because of the idea, and their overall meaning and all. Not specifically for their gameplay or in-game stuff. You know how you like sports teams and all and pull for them? Well, that's me with the Protoss. I am NOT a Korean when it comes to SC believe me, I suck total nuts at that game.

But on Age of Empires III, I be rolling in wins. It gets easy once you stay with one civilization and learn everything from them. I usually 'Boom' with the British by building a Defense and Economy early on, then upgrading my units, building the biggest army, and just slug it out with the enemy. Sure I have had my fair share of losses, but I fight till the end.

Command & Conquer series and Age Of Empires series were some of my favourites. Also enjoyed American Conquest, Warcraft 3 and expansions and Dune. I also enjoyed Settlers and Settlers II immensely though they are slightly different than your usual RTS games.

I played AoE 2 and didn't like it. I played a lot of Warcraft 3 and loved it. Dawn of War is a pretty good RTS game. Spend hours on it. I also like Settlers. I played Settlers 2 the original one and loved it, Settlers 3 was pretty good, but it started failing after Settlers 5.

Right now I have Settlers 2 10th Anniversary remake + the expansion installed on my computer. I played it for a few weeks, then got bored. I'll probably finish it later.

Settlers is one of my favourite series ever and very fond memories of it on the Amiga.

I'm rather partial to Empire Earth myself, I've played age of empires however and was on it all day fantastic game.

RTS Gamers are the most skilled Gamers, in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge Gamer, especially PC (PC Elitest, actually). Sure, SOME FPS games take skill and accuracy, but most of the time it's just get in there and kill, kill, kill. MMO's, in my opinion, take no skill what-so-ever. If you don't think so, then you really need to play games other than MMO's. I'm not talking about having to build a character (Hell, PvP is a joke). Most of the time, Game Mechanics is what really makes your characters powerful, not true Player skills.

RTS Gamers, though, that takes speed and mind. You've got MASS units that you need to work your Uber Micro on. You got buildings to erect and maintain. You got to remember hotkeys. Got to remember what units do what, what buildings you need to build another building, got to worry about resources, worry about attacks from five other players (or more). You've got to be fast, because every RTS player knows, that every second counts.

Anyway, I'm a huge gamer and I'm into (mainly) FPS, RTS, and MMO's. I have to admit, though, I probably do more FPS gaming than anything else, but I have to give it up to those hardcore RTS Gamers, because they are the most skilled in the culture. That's all I have to say.
