Recommend a game?

So the only games I have ever been into (not including The Sims series) are the Fable series.

Can anyone recommend a game available on X Box 360 (or even just X Box), similar to Fable, so I can get more into gaming?

Thanks :)

Re: Recommend a game?

Ide say if your looking for rpgs either try:

Morrowind, Oblivion - Old Rpgs (swords, bows and arrows etc) They have one lots of Game of the year awards.

Mass effect - Sc-fi Rpg

Dragon Age - More of a fantasy kind of rpg but around the (medival?) times.

World of Warcraft, Guildwars, Aion - If your looking for a multilayer RPG that's online bear in mind World of Warcraft has a subscription were as Guildwars and Aion do not.

There the best RPG in my opinion if you don't like the looks of any of then and ill post some more obscure games of the RPG type.

(RPG) - Role playing game similar to fable.

Have fun and welcome to the forums.

Re: Recommend a game?

All of the above mentioned titles would be good EXCEPT Morrowind and Oblivion. While good titles they are very expansive and open, often giving little or no indication of what to do or where to go... then again I never got too far in either, fun but long and challenging.

If you are interested in some other genres I might suggest Bioshock or Resident Evil 5 for shooters. Assassin's Creed or Prototype for more action-style. Borderlands is a fun mixture of shooter and rpg. You might like the LEGO games, they're generally pretty fun,if sometimes frustrating.

Jade Empire is an overlooked action/rpg-styled Bioware game, very good and for Xbox. It's available on the Xbox Arcade. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night is also available on the Xbox arcade, and is both rpg and action. Castle Crashers is an additively fun action game that is simple to learn, also on the Live arcade.

I hope that helped ^_^

Re: Recommend a game?

If you want to get into gaming you need to expand your search to other genres as well. Try some survival horror, My favorites are The Suffering 1&2 on original xbox and Condemned 1&2 on 360.

Re: Recommend a game?

Fable is kind of unique but it's sorta classed as an Action Adventure or RPG.

Id' recommend visiting a gaming website (preferably a big retailer) and click the "RPG" sub-section. Have a scan through and search for some gameplay videos, see if you like it.

Whatever people may say, Oblivion is not like Fable.

There's nothing really similar to Fable but some other good RPGs include The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion and... that's all I can really think of since there aren't too many RPGs for the Xbox 360. That's more of Sony's department.

If you can, look into getting Dragon Age as I heard that was pretty good. I don't know if it's on the 360 though.

Re: Recommend a game?

Viva Pinata - soooo underrated.

Oblivion and Mass Effect are good choices, although neither are comparable to Fable or indeed each other.

The sheer scope of Oblivion may leave you feeling a little overwhelmed at first (nothing is inaccessible, unlike areas of Fable which have to be unlocked) but if you do get it, go to any city on the map and just talk to people - it helps get a feel of the place and can also trigger lots of different quests to enjoy should you wish to simply avoid the main one. I've only completed it twice but put in over 300 hours now so there really is plenty to do and redo :)

Oblivion is decent but doesn't quite live up to the standards that Morrowind set. Of course, they both are extremely entertaining and even more so on the PC because of mods.

I haven't played Mass Effect yet but I've heard it's pretty good. What is it like? I might look into getting it someday.

Re: Recommend a game?

Because I played Oblivion first, I couldn't get on with Morrowind which was a huge shame.

Mass Effect is good fun - took me a while to warm to it but it's really enjoyable. not as open-world as I would like and the planets (in the first one especially) have very little about them - reminds me of the old Star Trek shows where it was just a different rock to the left or something to make the planet look different to the one on the previous show.

Mass Effect 2 is also good but is heading in a more shooter-y direction with it's DLC which was disappointing for me. But seeing the effects of your decisions in the first game can be interesting and they made the worlds far more detailed. Plus there are some pretty good new characters to engage with (although Jacob goes from one extreme to the other if you romance him - loses all his appeal :()

Re: Recommend a game?

I see... well, if I can, I will definitely check Mass Effect out.

I loved Oblivion but I did start with Morrowind so when Oblivion came out, I got it in the hopes that it would be a better looking Morrowind but equally as epic, if not more so.

I was disappointed but maybe of these days I can get some of the DLC or, hopefully, buy a new PC and get it for the computer so I can put some decent mods in.

Re: Recommend a game?

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I'll get right to it :)
