Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

I just have to share my opinion.. opinion? Passion! For Red Dead Redemption! Love this game! Best game i've played in a very, very, very long time!

It'd have to be about a 9/10.. maybe an 8/10 If i spent my time really finding problems with it.

Top notch game!

Things I lvoe about it.. well..

Hunting.. That really draws my attentions
Free roam..
Weapons
The scenerary..

List goes on for awhile.

So if ya haven't played it, PLAY IT!!! :D

Re: Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

I agree, awesome game and the first game thats really made me sit back and go 'wow' in a long time.

Re: Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

I know, right! I couldnt put it down!

The landscapes are just.. so.. Awesome! I love Nature.. What can I say..

Re: Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

It's hard to stress how fantastic that game is. You can only relate to it if you've played it.

It's impossible to explain how good it is to people who have yet to play it.

Re: Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

^YES. I've had issues with that. It's just so incredibly fantasticly amazing that I get tung-tied trying to tell them everything at once because it's not something you can just explain. Love it.

Yes, one of the few games I found to actually live up to the hype. Now that I've gotten a new wired controller, I can resume playing it again.

Re: Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

I've been wanting to get it forawhile due to the raving of everyone and so I got it yesterday. I've just met Seth. Its an amazing game I'd have to agree.

I didn't think it would be so much like GTA4 and still be different, I kind of hate myself for buying it as I have a tonne of games I still need to finish including GTA4 :P

I love the hunting, shooting down hawks, crows, and vultures is just too awesome. My favorite mission so far is the stampeding cattle during the storm. Quite simple but oh so intense racing to get to the front of the herd and let a douzen shot of to scare them away from racing to the cliffs. Truly a awesome game!

But I my stallion died, and then I got some random horse :( where can I find wild horses? I want to tame one myself and not get some random one. :p

If you're going for the achievements watch out for "Spurred to Victory".

You can buy horses. And to tame them, look at your map, and find them.

Re: Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

Anyone got any hints on taming the horses? I haven't been able to successfully break any since that mission with bonnie.

Keep falling off em. :(

Just tilt the stick in the opposite direction the horse is shaking you. Keeps you centred and balanced.

"GTA but does it better than GTA" still doesn't do RDR justice.
a game that forces you to like the wild west, even if it was never your thing. rockstar really showed off their eye for detail in it, and it shows from every drunk and carriage jacking down to the smallest tumbleweed.
RDR... cheers.

I know exactly what you mean. I had no interest in a 'Western' styled game at all and it wasnt really my thing so i almost didnt purchase RDR. Until i watched a couple of videos about it and thought 'If they can pull that off it will be an amazing achievement'. They did just that and created on of the most deep, engaging games ive played to date and ive loved every minute of playing it. Id say its much better than GTA and feels so much larger which much more to do. The world is superb and the AI characters feel like each one has their own personality unlike the cut and paste zombie like AI in GTA games. Added with full weather cycle, day to night cycle and wildlife it truly is a technical masterpiece.

precisely. and the best part is, the game manages to pull off the immersion necessary to make you enjoy all of those things to their fullest. and i mean immersion in ten foot concrete letters. even after i found out about the fast travel system (hidden as it was) i hardly ever used it. just riding from point A to point B was an experience. your horse could be stolen, you could be attacked by bandits. the possibilities are nearly limitless.

and of course, there was that devilish freedom of choice GTA offers, such as hogtying people and carrying them on horseback for your sick amusement. but it definitely felt "wrong" to act that way. somehow i found myself caring about the honor system. i'm not sure where they snuck in the part that made me not want to hogtie a person and use them for live bait but it was definitely there. of course, all that good stuff ended up coming my way once i finished the story.

I know what you mean! because I was going for the achievement where
you must complete 20 consecutive story missions without switching horses at a hitching post
and when I tamed
the Kentucky Saddler from the Bonnie mission
I knew I couldn't keep it unless I wanted to restart so I had to kill it. I actually looked away from the screen as I shot and then I didn't look at the body whatsoever. I actually cared. I don't care as much for people though, I don't know why. I just think animals are far more innocent.

Re: Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

I had a conversation with Skotekal about the ending and I even said
I felt like crying when John died

It's very rarely I get "attached" to a game and this is one of the few I did.

Re: Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

^That doesn't count. The game changed the horse for you, not you. So all the missions you did with the horse you had before still counted, and you could continue with the Kentucky Saddler without any fears. Why did you kill it? It's one of the best horses in the game along with the Hungarian Half Bred and the American Standardbred.

EDIT: Dang, ninja'd.

I did not know that...and I use my War Horse anyway. I've also got the deeds for the Kentucky Saddler anyways. This is a new game i made for the achievement. On my other one I've got all three :)

Re: Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

Finally learnt the idiotness of my ways, I was using the right thumbstick in taming aduhhh.....

Really loving the game, if only I hadn't just read juggernauts spoiler.... Damn my infernal nosiness. :'(

Re: Red 'Freakin' Dead Redemption!

^ Haha I was going to tell you that you were very mostly likely using the wrong thumbstick. Almost anyone I speak to that's having trouble with that is because they're using the wrong thumstick.
