Red Ring

So this is the third time I have received Red Ring of Death,
I'm honestly not angry like I was the first two times but my question is,
Should I send it in and pay a large amount of money (Warranty is up),
do I just get rid of it and all my games or do I buy the new Xbox Slim?

I'm thinking Slim or just giving it up completely.

Re: Red Ring

Shame to hear that. Fortunately I've not had a Red Ring of Death on mine. Pretty old one, too. Hope it'll stay like that.

But yes, I suggest getting the Slim version if you've got it in mind anyway. Better than to give up on all of it together and miss Fable 3's xbox version.

Re: Red Ring

When did you get your last RRoD?

Jan - July 09 ? Or it wasn't so much of a Red Ring but it wouldn't read any discs and other stuff but the first Red Ring was like 2008 something.

Re: Red Ring

I'd sell it as "spares and repairs" on eBay. I've sold two faulty 360s on eBay; one brought in £40 and the other only £15, but, still, it's money that can be put towards the new "slim" models.

Better yet, ditch 360s altogether and put the money towards PC components.

Re: Red Ring

see if it's covered. my xbox was well past it's warranty when it RRoD'd (bout a month ago). i reported it at xbox.com/support and they gave me free repairs, a 1 year post service warranty, and a free month of xbox live.

it's worth seeing if it's covered or not, if you ask me.

Re: Red Ring

Yeah, didn't they extend the warranty for RRoD related issues?

Re: Red Ring

Just repair it It's easy and won't cost you much also you could sell it as a working one afterwards. [doing so will make you have more money and more smileys for a newer model]

they extended the warranty in general to 3 years from 1 because of the high percentage of xbox's breaking in addition to the RRoD.

depending on what requirements you meet, you can get free repairs for an RRoD even after your 3 year warranty has expired... unless you have done something that would have voided your warranty.

Re: Red Ring

I agree with those above.

See if your warrentee is really up, if it is sell your old broken one for parts and get a slim.

Oh and Steve, you is sneaky with the promoting of PC no?

Re: Red Ring

I'm thinking just selling it.. but I know I'll miss Black Ops Zombies, Fable 3 and Gears of War 3, so I don't know.

Re: Red Ring

I wouldn't sell it, because I'm pretty sure you can get RRoD repaired free. If you can do that, just sell it as a used on and put money towards a slim version.

Re: Red Ring

Yeah I could do that - it works on and off for some reason.

Re: Red Ring

Just buy a new one... That's honestly what I would do
