Religion?

Now I am not saying it WILL be in Fable III, which I doubt it ever will be (unless we use the Temples of Light/Darkness).

Anyway, around the time Fable takes place and Fable II, and now III, you'd expect there'd be lots of talk about Religious beliefs.

'It's Alibion'. Of course it is, but Lionhead bases Albion off European History, and a major key part of European History was Religion.

---

What would you think about Religion in Fable III? And it came with bonuses, such as an Evil God giving you stronger powers against light-based enemies; or a God that helps you against dark creatures.

In Fable there are not many light based enemies which is rather disappointing. I think religion will be in this game and it will be your choice as king to keep it or leave it or something along those lines.

Re: Religion?

That would be cool. A bit like the the English reformation under Henry VIII.

Re: Religion?

as long as there are no "god simulator" mini games like black and white was then it could be a good addition

Re: Religion?

Terrible idea. Adding real-life religion into the mix never helped anything, quite the opposite. I found the idea of the "fake" gods charming and fitting the setting. Lets not ruin it.

Re: Religion?

you could probably call the good and bad/light and dark clans/temples a tradition in fable now, so it will probably either be a continuation of the f2 temples, or some more industrial ones.

most people probably wouldn't like the f2 temples returning, but if it has more realism and magic, like using the shadow creatures, or now having light creatures aswell, since i wouldn't mind using the monk clothes if they fixed the fatty glitch.

also, they probably should develop the idea of the primal shadows, and the shadow court abit more aswell.

I do not think the thread ever implied that it would be real life religions, but just in game religions. You might of just mis-read it there. Also the choice of remove an in game religion (with depth) would add some kind of decent moral choice.

I do like the idea of a made-up religion in Fable, for the sake of morality and depth. They could do it similar to Fallout 3's "Atom Religion" where you have small cults around the world, maybe even different religions with opposing views who go at each other. I'd find it interesting to have control over how to handle situations like that as King/Queen.

Note the key word "like". Something similar to the Henry VIII reform with a made up religion would be a really interesting moral (and difficult) choice. I really hope something along the lines of what the main religion of Albion will be, sounds really interesting.

Re: Religion?

Just to let y'all know, if it were a religious thing, many of the rich people would be Calvinists while the lower people would be a mixture Catholics and protestants.

Re: Religion?

I want to enforce my own religion. We praise cats on the town altar made of marble. We meow in-synch, and then we say our prayer.

Part of the religion is having to own a pet cat. If not, you're not considered a child of Catasaurus.

Re: Religion?

Oh, man this thread is so terrible..

Does no one remember who the **** Avvo or Skorm are? Two biggest God-heads in Fable, remember?

Re: Religion?

^ I was wondering when are people going to remember those two and that Fable already has it's own religion, myths, legends and stuff...

Re: Religion?

That's soooo rep-worthy, John....

Re: Religion?

I love how people think that because Albion has a European (British, specifically) feel, that they think it's based on Europe. Last time I checked, Europe didn't have magic....

Did has similar architecture, clothing . an oddly everyone has a English accent and the place is called Albion which is well (I think, I am not so sure at the moment) Latin for England.

Remember those two religions died in between Fable and Fable II. Oh, man your accuracy is terrible. And in Fable II the religions had changed drastically, how do we know how much religion has advanced in a further 50 years and how it may advance with you as its ruler?

Yea they're totally the same, even the dragons and undead and balverines, wait... no? I thought Ye Olde England had... so there's no leprechauns either? Huh, imagine that.

...Nobody actually said that Albion is EXACTLY THE SAME as England, just that Albion is partially inspired by England.

Now, I think religion is interesting. But not real gods, of course, since Fable never had real gods, and only fake ones. So, in this case we could have more diverse fake-gods.
If this would happen, according to the fact that they first had light/shadow clans, now it'd probably be about fire, water, earth and wind, or something like that...
NO, I don't say that's what I want. I say that would probably happen if we got more different gods.

The OP based his entire idea for religion in the Fable universe on the fact that it is based on Europe, and Europe seemed to like religion. I was just saying that they're not THAT similar.

Oddly enough all of those things are loosely based of British lore. Huh, imagine that.

I understand what you mean but I still believe religion in Albion is in a scene loosely based to European culture (good temple in general) for example the monks. In general I think that Albion is very influenced by European culture and lore.

Re: Religion?

But Avo and Skorm were proven false... Remember the Temple of Avo was simply built on a place that healed you, a trader used tactics (I guess is the word) to make people pay hefty sums of gold to use it thus creating the belief of Avo.

Skorm was the same way... yet I forgot how exactly they founded his Temple... same way as Avo's?

I liked the idea of two opposing Gods, Skorm and Avo, it created a small faction-type feeling. Then that war we never got to play in between the two temples.

Imagine two other temples in F3, worshiping Gods as they did in F1, they were at war with each other. Now imagine joining one and unlocking it's own Quest Chain (which is different for each). However you can only join ONE, do only its Quest Chain and none of the others per account. Whichever you choose also could give you weapons and armor based on the faction's feeling and appearance.

Basically, an improved Skorm and Avo.
