Xbox LIVE and other services. The yearly subscription is $50."and a subsequent $15 monthly fee for a two-year subscription" Is this for xbox live? or is it really just microsoft finance? Because I dont really know what it's for, and totalling a convenient $360 over the 24 mths?
I think it's worth if you prefer paying a stable price for the service and less for the console on the first place. So for the 2 years it should be $100, but you end up paying $360, I assume it is a finance gimmick, the 360+kinect isnt £99 thats just a deposit before you pay the rest of it off.

It is either upfront money or paying over time. I think it mostly depends on what people prefer. However, it doesn't feel different from financing, instead it feels like buying one of those Cable or Digital TV subscriptions and you pay for the decoder card or the hardware that you need.Agreed as in a financial climate where people seem to be jumping at buy now pay later options it could be smart marketing as people dont look at it that way.
