revamped crime system

I think there should be a revamped crime system. In which crimes should be totally situational; for instances if i steal (is there is stealing) some clothes from pat A of Bowerstone people and guards in part B shouldn't know about it and i should be able to flee completely un-noticed. I also think there should be some sort of difference in the crime detection self defense shouldnt count as an assault or attempted murder if I'm defending myself.

For example if i use a bunch of emotes to **** someone off and they hit or strike me i should be able to fight back without any real punishment.
anyone else think so? please share your thoughts

Re: revamped crime system

hmm.. to an extent. i think if you "defend" yourself enough times, the guards should be able to try and escort you out of the town. then if you resist they all start jumping you.

Re: revamped crime system

i agree. like one time, i was in Bowerstone North, and i stole from the store, the guy noticed me and called the guards, i ran through the slums and guards there attacked me

Re: revamped crime system

Well, on the other hand the guards aren't morons. I'm sure the word would've gotten around, like you know, chasing you and screaming "Get 'im!"

Re: revamped crime system

this is what made me mad in oblivion, i'd get in trouble for a crime i'd commited a couple of minutes ago in Anvil, when i talked to a guard in bravil. Maybe they were secretly "ahead of they're time"... lol. (on phone)"Hello, yes this is bravil's leader..., o i say there's a madman on the way here, if he talks to u arrest him!!!!!"

Re: revamped crime system

well obviously if your being chased thats a different story but say you stole something and had managed to leave before the guards in say bowerstone north were alerted...in bowerstone south you should be free.

Re: revamped crime system

but i had gotton away on horseback, I agree, i do still think if ur reknowned enough u should be able to tell store owners to follow u and go get em drunk.

Re: revamped crime system

I don't think it should take so long to steal items...
Does it really take 1-2 minutes to pick up an item and walk away?

Re: revamped crime system

i dont know if this has been said but in assassins creed you could fight with your fists and the guards wouldnt do anything... only when u attacked with a weapon did they get mad... but yeah i once had a guard follow me for 10 min for "stealing" a horse... i didnt even mean to do it... id just started and just got on and everyone freaked out... it was scary

Re: revamped crime system

enough about oblivion please I do indeed love the game and am aware of its many flaws with the all knowing guards.

Im talking about Fable 2 however and how awesome it will be :D
I think if you do get a shop owner drunk he shouldnt sober up the minuet he notices you in his shop infact maybe he will give you free items or discounts maybe intoxicating someone will lead to better dialog options/ better ways to barter.

Re: revamped crime system

thats what bugs me in alot of games guards in oblivion attak me even if i was on the other end of the world when i commit the crime and there isnt a whanted poster anywher and i cant see a captain sayin to his guards all right theres a madman about (if a woman captain handsome comes into it somewhere) if he says hello to you say blablablabla and give him his options
