RIP CoD

I hereby announce that the Call of Duty: Series has officially died.

InfinityWard took it out back, anally raped it, beat it senselessly then Treyarch finished the job by putting a bullet in it's head. I have been listening to the Multiplayer Details for Black Ops from the Full Reveal... holy aghsa. You EARN Money online that you can gamble which will effect your experience earned in games, you can customize emblems... what the deuce? Emblems, Titles etc were bad enough in Modern Warfare 2, they just added on the the useless list of things, now you can CUSTOMIZE them? I don't even see a point in any of that stuff, you'll never see the people you play with again so what's the point of having all this extra stuff?

I've played every single Call of Duty game and I am a giant fanboy of the series but seriously, after Modern Warfail 2 came out and now I'm seeing and hearing all this stuff about Black Ops I really wish they would just change the name to something like Call of Honor and let Call of Duty live it's legend. After World at War the Call of Duty series died. It's just a gigantic failure now. I'm honestly considering canceling my Call of Duty: Black Ops pre-order. I think I'll hate it.

I don't know, what are your opinions on it? Especially those who have played the past Call of Duties, how do you think Call of Duty has changed over all these years and all? I think they focus WAY TOO MUCH on the Multiplayer and not enough on the campaign / co-op. I can beat the campaign on Veteran within five hours and then I get bored of the game.

/endrant.

Re: RIP CoD

I understand your pain. Fans cant cast the crappy AVP movies from the record for the good name of the franchise either, we just have to deal with it.

Re: RIP CoD

the series died after CoD 2: the xbox launch title.

Re: RIP CoD

I haven't played much CoD, but from what you're saying Sean, it sounds like they're finally starting to change it up so that it's not like every other FPS out there. That's my problem with FPSs, and that's why I don't play them. They're all the same. I only play a select few that I feel have a good amount of uniqueness.

Halo: Reach FTW

Sadly, you are correct. A lot of FPS's don't really have anything going for it. It's just another game with guns that you point and shoot. Halo ends up being the same thing for me, the only reason I like 1 and 2 so much is I've payed them with friends a lot on co-op mode... and honestly that's what I really love about games is the option to WORK TOGETHER AS A TEAM!

Hence why I love Left 4 Dead so much. I still believe it's the BEST shooter out there, although it's more survival shooter... it's still FAR different than many FPS's out there. The genre is running stagnant and sadly so are most other genre's... my favorite RPGs has been running stagnant since the PS1 days... Oldschool rpgs rock..

BTW if anyone knows of any good new age RPGs please let me know. I still wanna finish Radiata Story.

if your looking for a good RPG then dragon age origins is the ways to go, it's by far the best RPG i've ever played and probably one of the best games in general i have played, you should deffo give it a go. i think if you are a console player you might pick it up for a round £25 or if you're on the PC gaming side you can get for around £15 (i once saw it on sale for £6)

Re: RIP CoD

CoD was dead in my mind when people were dissing Treyarch about WaW, seemed so stupid to me. Then MW2 came out and I spent $100 on it, felt cheated, wanted all my money back and felt the game should be free. The campaign in the latest one was a horrible mess that looked like Red Alert 2 and Red Dawn had an incestual baby that was half retarded and looked like the elephant man, the co-op went retarded and the multiplayer was so glitched up and unchecked it made it unfun. The CoD series NEEDS a change, it cannot stay as a generic shooter anymore, take Halo: It went from a generic shooter, to a shooter with sandbox elements and "Defense game" qualities (ODST) with theater (Something games are just now starting to catch on with) and now it is going into an all purpose super game so to speak. While CoD is hanging onto graphics and it's multiplayer, which supposedly failed in WaW and most definitely failed in MW2.

The only redeeming qualities Black Ops will have is Zombies and Theater, which is enough for me to play it if I get it as a gift or if it drops below $30.

In short, I hope CoD is dead, because Halo is ending (For most of us) after Reach, and GoW is coming to a close. It is time for a new FPS to take up the mantle of best FPS, maybe one that can start fresh with new ideas without killing their fanbase, because they haven't made one yet.

Re: RIP CoD

Ive loved all the Infinity Ward Call Of Duty games and i thoroughly enjoyed CoD 4 and MW2 and i enjoyed the single player modes too. However there are 2 things i think have gotten worse in the newer games and thats the length of the Single Player and the balancing in the multiplayer. However for Treyarch i enjoyed the single player of World At War more then i liked the multiplayer.

I think Modern Warfare 2 was good but it suffered from bugs, glitches, balancing issues and the single player was criminally short. I dont think they did enough with it as a sequel to make it stand out as much as CoD 4 did as a benchmark title.

Ive played and owned every Call Of Duty to date but im going to wait on verdicts for Black Ops as ive always liked Infinity Ward's games over Treyarchs and im sick of Activison milking the series year after year.

What he said. Also Black ops looks fun and there's different play lists and challages such as contracts looks fun.

Black Ops looks sh*t. They copied and pasted MW2 and added more annoying killstreaks.

I never really was a fan of CoD anyway. I liked CoD4 and MW2 was fun for a couple of months but I only ever play 1 or 2 games before getting bored now.

Re: RIP CoD

I don't think Halo: Reach will be the biggest game of 2010, each site has their own opinion. I'm not a big fan of Halo anyways but after reading about Reach and watching some gameplay I'm actually looking forward to it.

But I still think Black Ops looks like MW2 with bits of Halo (Emblem/Clan Tag Customization) and Character Customization.

yup, every site is thinking differently.

Re: RIP CoD

Meh, Halo: Reach is just another overhyped game, just like Call of Duty.
