S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky running in DX10

A little look at just what sort of GFX, physics and textures DirectX10 is capable of, i mean... wow...

Excuse us while we dribble over this new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky tech demo. But feel free to join us...

Bloody hell it's impressive. But don't believe us - watch it yourself in our video player. Now!

Not much else to say on this one. Just sit back and enjoy. Clear Sky debuts on August 29.

I'll take a look now... something tells me I'm going to be amazed, though. ^_^

Hopefully S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Clear Sky will make its way to the Xbox 360 since my PC is currently collecting dust at the back of my garage.

Not that impressive, except for a few things like the volumetric fire and dynamic smoke.

I also liked the water-effects, and I'm wondering how they will pull the dynamic surfaces off... imagine if it starts to rain over a ruined house with rubble everywhere. The engine has to change the shadermaps (yes, the video said they had shadermaps for the rain) and that is bound to lag. I think.

Easily the most impressive dynamic display ive seen to date and better than even Crysis and Far Cry 2 from look of it. Seemed to be running easily too, going to need a mega beast of a PC to run it i bet though.

Agreed. What I meant was the resolution, Anti-aliasing and shadows. I think Cryengine 2 beats whatever engine Clear Sky is going to use in these areas.

Its known as the X-Ray engine and features HDR rendering, parallax and normal mapping, soft shadows, motion blur, widescreen support, weather effects and day/night cycles. However as you said it doesnt support anti-aliasing with dynamic lighting enabled but instead uses a "fake" form of anti-aliasing that can be enabled with the static lighting option that utilizes a technique to blur the image to give the false impression of anti-aliasing to same effect.

Hmm, It was only a guess from my side but it turns out I was right. I could spot a difference though so lets hope they improve it...

Well i followed the production of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. like an eagle for years awaiting its release and learnt about its engine, plus Wikipedia has it listed. :P

Its engine is older than that of the new version Cryengine from what i remember so what impressed me if how much detail it can pull off.
