Scams.

In many games that you are able to trade/gift there are scammers.

After a while almost every game gets them. I suggest making a middle-man service for people that are trading with someone they don't know very well. The 1st person selling something would give the item to the middle-man and the other guy would give there item/gold and then the middle-man would exchange them, thus no scamming.

Re: Scams.

Middle man takes both things and leaves?

This just leaves even more room for people to scam, keeping it to the smallest amount of people possible is the best way to prevent scamming.

Sorry, but your idea is crap.

Yes, but if the Middleman is a trusted community member? A lot of Game-forums use this method. Of course it isn't 100% perfect, but is it not better than trading at your own risk? There could be applications examined very closely by staff members as to who becomes a middleman. Or not, it's really up to the staff. If they think people should be mature enough to trade on their own, so be it. But we know most of the population cannot be trusted to be smart enough; so why not? We could have a trial run, and if it works out, we can keep it.

Sounds way too complicated just too trade... You'd have to find a time that all three of you could get online, fine enough people to be "middle men". It just seems like a waste of time to me. I've traded many times and have never been scammed. I guess you should just be careful who you trade with, and trade at your own risk.

Re: Scams.

this sucks he said someone the trader doesn't know to well that that cuts out the idea of the middle man being some1 trusted off the site and its easier to scam.... the middle man works with the scammer

example

someone selling a legendary for arguments sake 10000 gold

they trade over the weapon and the middleman and other trader leaves

OR if you want to take less chance of scamming you trade over half the gold recieve the item then send the rest but again this can be used as a scammer when it comes down to it look for obv signs who you can trade with,

eg a premier member (dont think they in a hurry to get banned and have their cash wasted) or someone with hundreds of posts, personally I don't trade at all but if I did I would only trade with people who have plenty of posts rather than someone who just made a account and saying straight away buying this

Re: Scams.

Get a trusted member to do the trade, and all this could be avoided if the person leaves then you would give the item/gold back to the person still there and wait until the other person gets back on to give them there item/gold.

and people caught scamming should be banned from the forum.

Re: Scams.

I had this idea introduced on my thread by someone. It wont work because people wont trust a stranger taking all of the items, even if they do know them.

Just pick good traders that are of renown on the forums. Most people on the forums are all good traders, however you do get the occaisonal person who has like 3 posts and will run with your items and never go on the forums again.

Just trade safe

Re: Scams.

There is no safe trading when it is gifts, if theres a trusted member doing the middle man you wouldn't have to worry, someone like Albion Knight, or any other long time member on the site for trades you are nervous about.

Re: Scams.

Why not cut out the middle man if the person you're trading with is reliable.

That's like saying a snowball is cold, but two snowballs are cold too. There's always risk, no matter how many middle people you have.

Just trust the one person like we all do or hide in a cupboard. That's my advice.

Re: Scams.

You cant if they're not on your friends list, which I doubt they will be if they're planning on scamming you.
