Scariness

Does Scariness do anything? I've gone from +100 to -100 and I can't tell the difference

I think all that does is affect whether people like you...
when I'm evil and scary, people just run and the chicks wont talk to me... women...
but if I throw on something that decreases my scariness, all of a sudden everybody thinks I'm great again... such shallow people...

Scariness is also necessary for some respect. When you’re starting a new game and you have no scariness NPC’s will talk to you just any kind of way. However get a little scariness to go with that wonderful personality and that equals respect. It turns “Hey..Chicken Chaser…do ya chase chickens.” Into “How do you do chicken chaser.” Your also hear things like “better show him some respect.” from passing merchants.

But I thought that people got more afraid of you because, you are evil, or because rumor spreads into town that you slaughtered a few villages?

So if I am full good align and have +100 scariness they will fear me a lot or if I am full evil align and have -100 scariness they won't be afraid?....doesn't make very much sense...

scariness is a measure of how scared of you people are... it makes perfect sense...evil is nothing to fear on its own

Evil is the basis of all fear, if you walk up to some random stranger and ask them what do they think of when think of the word fear, and I garantee that 9 times out of 10 they will mention something evil...
Anyway, so you are saying that I can be full evil align (although I have no scariness at all) that people will not cower from me? I find that very hard to believe?...

So death is evil? I'm afraid of death. I FEAR worms, are they evil? I fear a lot of things that aren't evil..

scariness is what makes them run away.

Anyways, ye made yur point, but I have had only 20 scariness and full evil and people still run?

Ignorance/lack of knowledge/lack of control causes fear, not evil.

I thought that your deeds affected whether people ran from you or not? Or am I missing something here?

Alright so the test is to be 100 scary and 100 good and see how people react

Your right, sometimes programmers and game makers want to produce a life like effect but it doesn’t make much sense. Games try as they might to imitate life; will never be 100% correct. They have to think about effects and balance of the rules they make so that the game is playable. Scariness = respect/fear. This is an effect I myself have observed from playing the game and also on one of the many hint loading screens of the Fable game.
