Sega unveils new Alien vs. Predator

A new Alien Vs Predator title has just been announced by Sega:

Alien vs. Predator, currently only a working title, is being developed by Rebellion, who was responsible for the 1999 AVP game we hold dear to our hearts. The new game is pencilled in for a 2010 release. The innovative new AvP game presents an exciting opportunity for us. It represents a fantastic addition to our growing Aliens franchise and the reinvention of one of gaming's most cherished iconic titles. By adjusting the release of our other Aliens titles to accommodate it, Sega will ensure that every title lives up to the high expectations of Aliens and AvP fans.

Sega also have the other Aliens title in the making that i posted very early footage shots of about nearly a year ago Aliens: Colonial Marines.

Yay! I love that series, I am also very giddy for the Colonial Marines game, AVP 1 for the PC is one of my favorite horror/survival shooters. thanks for posting!

The games were fantastic, the movies however... not so much (besides the separate Alien & Predator movies).

The first Predator movie is Arh-nould's best movie in my opinion. And the best of the franchise. I'm very much looking forward to this game because I grew up with the older ones scaring the living daylight out of me with their evil low-res aliens!

The AVP movies sucked, AVP Was a great game/comic series, not a good movie series, I can only hope that number 3 will actually be more like the games! But as far as the individual franchises, my favorites are as follows:

1. Aliens (Mainly due to the characters, Hudson was awesome, and of course Apone will always hold a special place in my heart!)
2. Predator
3. AVP2 (The gore was great, and I am glad they managed to put the motion tracker noise into it, for the APC and satellites, that brought back good memories!)
4. Alien ressurection (People said it sucked, but it wasnt all that bad.)
5. Alien
6. AVP
7. Predator 2
8. Batman vs Predator (I dont know if there was a movie, gut the comic was... wow)

I own the AVP1 game for the PC, its fun, I also own AVP extinction for the PS2 and I am excited about the next AVP games! I also heard from gameinformer a few months ago that they are making an Alien Role Playing Game!

I agree. The 1st movie was ok, but the 2nd one was crap, the gore was too cheap and there was too many social issues

^You kidding, maybe its just me, but you cant get enough gore, and the gore was actually realistic looking! (Didnt look like corn syrup and chopped steak)

I also heard from gameinformer a few months ago that they are making an Alien Role Playing Game!

Its been canned according to a designer that used to work on it...

While Sega has yet to officially confirm the status of its Aliens RPG, a designer that used to work on the project has said it was canned.

David Kondor's online CV states he was "Designer for canceled third-person action Aliens RPG (Xbox 360, PS3, & PC)".

Aside from the original announcement Sega never really gave out much more on the project. Kondor's CV pretty much wraps the case up but we've contacted Sega for comment. You know, just in case...

^Imo, Predators are badass, I always root for them, but I will always have a place by my heart (Pun intended) for the Xenomorph! Nothing neater than those little Aliens...

When is Aliens: Colonial Marines coming out??? I asked at gamestop and every time I go in I get a different date. Also Hudson was the best character in Aliens "Why dont you put her in charge!" ahh classic.

check the wikipedia page periodically. if the date keeps changing at gamestop it hasn't been announced yet...gamestop just makes up a date in the distant future if it hasn't been announced yet.

Sickkkk, loved AVP2 on pc, never got round to playing the first one, well not properly anyway..
the movies were a total let down, just like most Game-->Movies now a days.
hope they get moving on this pretty quick,
i was always abit of a predator fan myself

lol the first movie wasn't too bad...then again i saw it in theaters like 5 years ago so maybe my taste has improved (unlikely)

btw Hadesss, In truth, AVP Started as a comic book, then the Alien head appeared in Predator 2 on the trophy wall, then they made AVP games, then AVP movie (Not based on the games, as you can tell because the movies dont have Colonial tech) I hope AVP 3 has the Colonial Marines, afterall, Yutani got her hands on PredTech, SO we have seen, Whelan, and Yutani: The two founders of the Whelan Yutani corporation in the Alien series.

Ah, the old AVP PC games were great.

Specifically the marines part, great horror FPS right there. Alien parts were ok, and predator was mediocre IMO. You had just like 4,000 gadgets and could easily destroy all the enemies, so you ended up setting up traps and just toying with the AI, because it was so easy. Kind of like Crysis, actually.
