Shadows and Blades

Here written is speculation birthed in conversation with the Snowspire Oracle upon my completion of Fable last night.

SPOILER ALERT

I was pondering the possible link between The Court of Blades and The Shadow Court. For this I offer a brief synopsys.

It is said that the Northern Wastes town now known as Necropolis was brought to destruction by the greed of one man, whos unslatable hunger for wealth drove him to a pact with the eldrich beings from the world beyond. Wealth he recieved but only to be debted with his life which was taken from him along with all those within the settlement.

We also know that Jack of Blades is but the final and weakest remnant of the mighty trinity know as "The Court of Blades" Ushered forth into our world in the form of the Jack, the Knight and the Queen.

Here I suggest these events are one and the same; that the greed of the northern man ushered forth the court and the destruction of Necropolis and, subsequently, the world. It is certain that the Court also arrived from the Void Beyond the world of substance and the Northern Wastes, in close vicinity to the Necropolis, is also the location of the Broze Gate; which could easily have been the Court's place of origin.

Now what of the Shadow Court? The Oakvale boy now named Reaver was he who begged of the beings from the Void Beyond to be granted Youth and Longevity, to which answered The Shadow Court. Taking in payment the lives and land of Oakvale in an act none too dissimilar, if not identical, to the sundering of the Necropolis. But now we are left with the court present; tangible in our world but covert in ther influence, it may not be mere coincidence that Shadow beings are increasingly strife.

I will now highlight the unavoidable and already much debated issue of the central figure in the Shadow Court, presumably their equivilant the the Queen if comparison is applicable. Is that not the form of Theresa? It is undenyable that the ancient seeress has a unique connection to Oakvale, the Old Kingdom, the Archon, the Sword of Aeons and the Jack of Blades, but is that answer suffice to explain her longevity, despite her relation the William Black? I might add that the Shadows have built their court in none other that the field Theresa played in as a child. Perhaps there is a new court at play, a new Queen on the throne... Why did Theresa want the Tattered Spire anyway?

Discuss.

Re: Shadows and Blades

The only thing I don't particularly agree with is the Theresa being the new Queen, I think they only used her figure for contrast from the other two (being Temple Monks) and already having movements for speech. I also find it odd that the voice is low/manly, but they ARE shadows and can have any type of voice they want.

I don't really like saying that the Shadow Court is the same as the Court of Blades, since the Shadow Court is just shadows, and the Court of Blades are actual people that we could see. Although, in the Snow globe Quest, they used to be monk and must have turned into shadows like Cornelius Grimm. I can see the connection, but I don't really think the proof found is very relevant to each other.

Re: Shadows and Blades

I just liked the under-riding themes repeating themselves. I imagine these are all theories and questions to which we will never be given an answer, but it's fun to speculate! I've yet to play see the future and knothole island yet as I only just bought the GotY Edition today, but it'll bo good to see if there's any other nice little easter-egg details.

Re: Shadows and Blades

Interesting speculation, but I seriously doubt the Theresa connection. They just used the same model because it was easier than coming up with another similar one.
