Should I have played Fable 1?

Should I have played Fable 1?

Bascially, never had an xbox, so never bought fable 1 even though it really appealed to me.

Should Ihave played it to have a better understanding of the game ? the game being Fable 2 !

If I should no could someone please explain quickly Fable 1's storyline?

I dont think you will have to have played Fable to appreciate Fable 2. However there will be some nostalgia things included in Fable 2 that you might miss or not 'get' having not played the first.

there will more than likely be some landmarks or characters that were in fable 1... but not recognizing them probably wouldnt ruin fable 2 for you

Well it would be nice to get to know the game as a concept in Fable 1 but there's not really a continuing story (500 years difference) so it's no biggy

there actually is a story but it doesnt fully come together until later.
its about the bloodline and the history of albion
btw theresa is in fable 2.

A lot of people say it's Theresa in Fable 2, but it's 500 years after Fable 1. I know there's magic and it's a whole fairytale sort of thing, but I don't see how it could be her?
Which is Canon for the Fable universe being, if you were evil you killed her, or good, you keep her alive?

I personally wont be starting fable 2 until I have completed TLC with at least 1 character. However the amount of time I am likely going to be spending on TLC this weekend I will probably have done it before fable 2 arrives.

I actually played through The Lost Chapters before Fable. So when I went back to the original one I was like, "But where did that go?!"
It was so confusing.

I agree with DD. Also, Lionhead have previously mentioned that not playing the original Fable won't be an issue. If you have played the original Fable, however, you'll be able to notice subtle nods towards the original game in Fable 2; like for instance: names of towns, etc. Can't think of any other examples at the minute. ^_^

I think I got fable a week or two after it came out. I was walking through GameStop looking for games on the Xbox, and this guy that worked there told me I should get fable. I was like: "Naw man, I like the shooter games, not the stupid little cartoon games." But I couldn't find any other game I wanted so I finally agreed on fable. I was on my way back home all ****ed off (probably because I had some really bad experiences with the cartoon looking RPGs in the past). I got home and put in the disk. I played a bit as a kid before I had to eat dinner. I wasn't very interested yet. But after dinner I started playing some more. BAM!!! Just like that I play through the entire game without sleeping. Fable was/and still is, in my opinion the best game for the Xbox. As soon as Fable TLC came out I had it too. I'm proud to be a Fable addict. In my opinion you should really play Fable TLC before you play Fable 2.

I'd say the same. Fable 2 will probably have a different storyline than fable 1 so it doesn't really matter.

Worhtwhile playing Fable 1 anyway. You can probably pick up a copy for next to nothing, and its great fun!

funnily enough fable 1 TLC cost me just over double it cost me on live, the game is in huge demand.
Official shops all out of stock, ebay few sellers selling new copies for over £20 (£8 on live for fable original) and I ended up getting a 2nd hand copy for £9 plus delivery so around £13.

Every copy I looked at on ebay had 3 or more bidders.

Fable 1 is very fun, but doesnt really make any difference to the Fable 2 storyline well except Oakvale abit.

Just a little while ago, there were a lot of copies for 10 American dollars everywhere. Maybe Fable 2 has made people want that more?:unsure:

You can download it on Xbox Live :) But it takes ages :'(

Yeah, you should have. Fable I, like most prequels, sets up Fable II, pretty much. It is very important that you play Fable I, to understand the concept and everything.

well do you not think there are many many many similaritys like the fact that at the beggining rose says "look i can see your eyes are bad" (because theresas eyes were stabed out)
and if you put subs on it says her name is theresa
and aswell the fact that there both sages

nothin againsed you, but just think :cool:

Fable I will teach you so much lore... If it's too hard for you and you just want lore use hacks.
And Beann, you must have never played Fable. Ever. I suggest you learn up on some of the lore. People in the Hero bloodline never die unless killed intentionally, they generally have no "death of old age" or it's just at a later time.
