nooo I know what they are.
I just don't think it's necessary. I bet it'd get a lot of SPAM.
plus, I can contact anyone pretty easy without a "shout box" but by all means, wait for more opinions

A shoutbox, saybox, tagboard, or chatterbox is a chat-like feature of some websites that allows people to quickly leave messages on the website, generally without any form of user registration.
In their simplest form, shoutboxes are simply lists of short messages, possibly with information about their authors. The page may be automatically refreshed after a certain interval, or polled dynamically in order to keep new messages visible. Older posts are often deleted after a certain number of messages have been written in order to preserve space on the server.....[MORE]

I think it sounds a little unessacary. We have fine communication already and what would be the point for unregistered users to post. Just my opinion though, I think something like a teamspeak line but for the forums would be cool.

I was debating on whether or not to add a shoutbox recently, however some of the ones on offer which integrate with our forum software seem to be extremely resource intensive and could potentially take up a lot of disk space. So basically, unless I can find one that is a little less demanding, it isn't really an option at the moment. I personally would like to have one implemented though.
