The game first began development back in 2013 and was initially a spin off title for Assassins Creed Black Flag. It later became its own independent project and after countless delays and a 'new vision' it is finally said to be releasing on November 8th, 2022​

Skull and Bones delayed for the Sixth Time​

The game has been in development hell it seems since it was announced 10 years ago and it has now been delayed for the 6th time. Ubisoft also announced that they have cancelled 3 other unannounced projects amid "major challenges" in the industry, the underperformance of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Just Dance 2023, and an upcoming "restructuring" within the company. They had also cancelled 4 other projects last year so it sounds like Ubisoft are having a rough time of things at the moment.​
