Halo 3

Uh-Oh, it looks like Sony Computer Entertainment has another embarrassing PR situation on its hands; one of its employees has been caught editing the Halo 3 Wikipedia page.

As you can see by the cold, hard evidence here Here, the line "it won't look any better than Halo 2" was added to the entry by IP address 217.18.23.2, which leads straight to SCEE in Liverpool. Tsk, Tsk.

It's not the first company to be caught fiddling with Wikipedia entries either; last month EA was spotted tinkering with its own entry, removing references to the controversial business practices of founder Trip Hawkins.

Platform holders; for goodness sake go to a web café first.

Talk about sad..

Re: Sony Employee Caught Editing Halo 3 Wiki...

 thats funny, notice he didnt say that 'It wont BE any better than Halo 2' though. I remember reading about the EA editing too, people were up in arms about it.

I don't know what he was hoping to accomplish with editing the entry. Anyone who's been following the game, can clearly see it highly surpasses it's predecessor, in both gameplay & appearance. So he made Sony look bad all for nothing.

Re: Sony Employee Caught Editing Halo 3 Wiki...

It was only one employee.
you're like those Tabloid people looking to take pictures of stars when they look fat in their bathing suits.
I never let the actions of one person justify what I think of everyone else

No I'm not, he's only helping Sony look bad, especially when you pile this incident ontop of all their other crap. One employee can do alot, depending on how cheap and pathetic it is.

Re: Sony Employee Caught Editing Halo 3 Wiki...

No you're not? MY OPINION is that you remind me of people from tabloids. So..Yeah. But It doesn't matter. I don't care. Droded did he same thing practically. Tried to Change the wiki page so that our link was in it. It wouldn't make me feel very good if someone on another forum posted some news about "Project ego. net Changing the wiki page to advertise their site" and then talked about how much we sucked. But like I said, I don't really care, and this is all I have to say.

Re: Sony Employee Caught Editing Halo 3 Wiki...

I think it's just hilarious that anyone would do that... editing Wikipedia like they'll fool us into thinking Halo 3 wont be any good... people who trust in Wikipedia should be wearing a toe tag...
it can really make a company look bad when their representatives go around pulling **** like that...
but I also kind of see what Seph is saying... one person editing wikipedia doesn't neccessarily reflect on the whole organization...
we had a foolish person here on Project Ego that was repeatedly editing the Fable article on Wikipedia... even after we told them not to... it made us look bad, but we had nothing to do with it...
though with the other **** moves they've been making lately, you'd think people would at least wait till they went to the net cafe or something before they pulled that

The problem is; it does very much. Sony will be getting bad rep about this in the eyes of many. When you are an employee of a company you carry a responsibility to that company, like it or not.

Re: Sony Employee Caught Editing Halo 3 Wiki...

Well, That's not how I'd run my company. It's like when I was little and some kid did something bad, then we all had to stay in from recess, or not get the party we were supposed to. It would **** me off, I thought it was unfair. In my eyes, his Actions don't reflect on he company. And the actions of the company don't reflect on the console. I love my sony Playstation 2 no matter what happens.

You're not seeing what I am saying, Sephy.

Eventhough Sony probably had nothing to do with it, because of this employee they will get bad rep for it.

When you are an employee of a company you just do not go and do something like this. Like it or not, it will be tracked to Sony because you work there.

You have an responsiblity to your company not to do some stupid sh*t like this. Doing so is extremely disrespectful. This guy, if they ever find out whom, will probably get the boot.

Re: Sony Employee Caught Editing Halo 3 Wiki...

it's like that pretty much no matter where you are - school ,work, the forces - the actions of just one individual have a knock-on effect for others in the organisation concerned. It doesn't necessarily mean everyone will suddenly stop buying the products but it will mean that it is one more reason not to trust the brand. The idea becomes "If they cannot keep their staff in check, what else can't they control properly?"

I am seeing what you're saying and I know they will get a bad rep. But not from me they won't. And my opinion..AGAIN is What I already said. I am allowed to have my own opinion, am I not? I think it's unfair to base something on the company from the actions of an employee, I always have thought this was unfair, since I was little.
Regarldess of "How it works" in the world. I think it's unfair.

It seems no one (but hex) is SEEING what I'm saying

I didn't say it didn't make them look bad... or that people shouldn't act responsibly in relation to their organization... that's why I called the person who did it from here foolish... cause they were foolish =]
I just meant it doesn't necessarily reflect on the organization in the way that it doesn't prove that they were all conspiring against Microsoft and Halo and plotting as a company to take them down by way of Wikipedia articles... ... that's all I meant...
