"September should definitely be a big month for us when you add in the launch of the new, slimmer, lighter PSP which will hit store shelves next month."
:ninja: It's gonna take alot more than just a small one-month sales increase, to help put Sony in the lead. As for the PSP, well...They can forget about it appealing to any gamers out there, but for entertainment sake...well..

In a PlayStation.blog post, SCEA analyst relations manager Mariam Sughayer responded positively to NPD's July console sales data.
While still trailing sales of Nintendo's Wii and Microsoft's Xbox 360, Sony shifted 159,000 PS3 units in North America during July, in comparison to 98,500 in June and 81,600 in May.
Sughayer attributed the dramatic increase in sales to both the PS3's July price cut and upcoming software releases for the system, and predicted September would be a bumper month for the company due to the launch of the PSP-2000.
"From a PlayStation perspective, coming out of E3 we were really anticipating a good reaction to our new hardware pricing announced on July 9th, and we were obviously very pleased to see that PS3 sales increased with 159K units sold at retail for the month of July, which puts us up 61% over June numbers.
"While I think a lot of that had to do with the new price, I also think there is a great deal of anticipation for the line up of games just around the corner, including Warhawk (Aug. 28), Lair (Sept. 4) and Heavenly Sword (Sept. 12). In fact, September should definitely be a big month for us when you add in the launch of the new, slimmer, lighter PSP which will hit store shelves next month."
