Sony Make PS2 Even Smaller

When the slimline PS2 came out quite some time ago people were shocked as to how small it was and how compact and light it seemed to be. Well it seems Sony have done it again and slimmed the slimline PS2 down even more.

Japan's Nikkei Business Daily reports today that the new model SCPH-79000 of the PS2 hardware features a drop in weight from 900 to 600 grams. The system's AC adapter has also dropped from 350 to 250 grams.

The paper reports that the weight loss was achieved by a reduction of parts. This has also resulted in a drop in production costs, something that's sure to benefit Sony's bottom line.

Sony has started shipping the new hardware, which is visually identical to previous versions.

That is the existing slimline (1st one) that i have the new one is even smaller.

why would they want to make it smaller... there just showing off...

They are making it smaller because it costs less for the parts and as they are still pushing PS2 sales it will cost them less to manufacture them and make more money from sales.

hmmmm it must be mad small....i used to have a slimline...till i purposely snapped it clean in half:ninja:XBOX!!!!!!!!

I like the slimline but i always knock it over because its so light and stood right next to my mouse :lol:

The piont is to play games but I have enough games with the :360: so I'll doubtfully get one.

The point in the slimline at all or do you mean the new remodelled slimline?

Also as chipping is illegal Sony arent going to make a model where it is easier to chip them.

Yeah it is illegal in some countries though others have a relaxed attitude to it, Sony arent fans of it either to be honest as they lose out on money for game sales.
