speak out and be heard

Has anyone heard mr molyneux say that the heroes talk? Wouldn't it be cool if u could plug in your little voice thing and talk as the characture. Would it be cool if they reply to what you say. Only your voice can be transfered as a girl or boy voice rather than just be your own gender. Does that make since?

Re: speak out and be heard

no, i think it's just left up to the expressions, dialouge hasn't been shown, iand i doubt it ever will appear. I do think that i would like this alot more though somethin like oblivions except a little deeper... but i dont like the headset thing, its been tried and didn't really work, it would get mixed words and do something completely different than u want

Re: speak out and be heard

unless of course sometime in the distant future they have a team of analysts or whatever that monitor your commands and insert a program for the NPC's or other things to respond to what you just said.

Re: speak out and be heard

Well the whole idea is good but for someone to put it into the game is hard i think they should just keep on adding more and more expressions (also they can add more with the Market place but that could mean you have to pay T_T but if Loinhead is nice it will be free ^_^) because that would be alot easier then putting voice controlled expressions into the game.

Yeah, I remember playing Rainbow Six 3 (or is it Rainbow Three 6?) and telling them to attack or something, and them deciding to regroup and wait for you. Dizzy stuff.

But a fully refined version for sometime in the future (when this technology has all its problems ironed out) it would be pretty cool:D

Re: speak out and be heard

Dude... If that were possible then robots and the like would know how to morally interact and decide based on given information, Thats kinda advanced. But yeah, It would be cool.

Re: speak out and be heard

OK, first of all, yes, it would be awesome, but it is future tech. If we are lucky, we'll get something like it in the next-gen (of course, we may get another shooter with simple commands, but I mean full speech recognition).

Second, @ Steampunk, no...a mechanical creation can never and will never have morals. It is not just hard to do, but that is impossible. A robot can only do what it is programmed to do, it can't make choice on it's own. This would still work though, but a game would take forever to make because of the virtually endless list of words in our vocabulary. Lets say there are 1,000,000 words in every language and there are 500 languages on the planet (both completely random numbers and are under the real world numbers). That would mean they would have to program 5,000,000,000 words for the game to react to. Of course, this is the reason why some games have had voice recognition, but with only short phrase or one word commands (such as "attack" or "regroup on me/at point A"). This way, they don't take as much time to program it and they can fit all the commands in a game manual without giving out free dictionaries to every customer.
