Starting With Previous Character

This is another of my questions which I'm sure is merely something that's been left out of the game but is it at all possible to restart Fable 2 with my current character? It's because I've pretty much perfectised him - full pure and good, best weapons, off the chart renown, all the abilities I want maximised, Castle Fairfax owned with a good family...

Of course, it took me bloody ages way after the retribution quest but if there's any way of doing so even if it's only partially I will be grateful for an answer.

Re: Starting With Previous Character

I'm pretty sure you can't - which is a shame because it took me ages to get my perfect character created - because you don't just save your character, you save the environment they are in e.g. what they have already done, where they have been etc.

At least I think that's right - I'm usually hideously wrong about these sorts of things and if there is a way around it then hopefully someone a tad more useful than me will post it :)

No you cant, although if you had a few crates of beer and a pair of 3d glasses I'm sure it could have the same affect. Maybe.

Re: Starting With Previous Character

That is so bad! What's the point of having so much in the game to work towards like opening all 9 demon doors, getting the gargoyle's legendary treasure, getting all the silver keys, buying Castle Fairfax and opening the silver key chest, getting all the expressions, getting a real estate worth of 2.5 million for instance if the storyline is so short and poor and there's no repeating it with your current character and even the silver keys and gargoyles destroyed for that matter. I'm sure you'd agree that it removes the entire completionist point out of it. I'll just throw away everything I've worked towards. :(

I'm not getting at you obviously! It's Lionhead that didn't think it through. :P

Regardless, thanks for telling me about this. :)

Re: Starting With Previous Character

That would be the most retarded thing to have in a game. One of the points in the game is start of as a nobody and have your character develop throughout the game. besides whats the point of playing through the game with a perfect char? Waste of time to add that in.

Re: Starting With Previous Character

See I'd like it - I'm just that sort of person, I suppose. I'd like the option to be super 1337 hax0r in my next playthrough if I so wish and batter everyone who gets in my way without fear of messing up. And if it's optional, then no one can complain about it because they can always opt out.

It's like with Oblivion - adore the game but hate having to give up my awesome characters with the entire map discovered and the best weapons EVAR to begin all over again. Sometimes it's a nice challenge and all, but other times I just want to carry on with my amazing character stats that took me so long to get in the first place.

Re: Starting With Previous Character

If they allowed you to go to a different country type thing as a nobody, it'd be cool. Or let you restart against super hard h4x0rz monsters with like, beyond legendary stuff :D But alas, that would be too much work for Lionhead imho.

Re: Starting With Previous Character

Yeah, I'd love to replay Fable II with my old character. I'd love to practically go straight from where I am now to the Gypsy camp doing the first adult mission through to the end with everything else as it is. True, I know your're taking the starting off bit out but when you have played long with a character, you want to just push him further and it makes the many efforts you do way after the completion of the game actually worth your while.

And yes, if you could fight harder enemies to maintain the challenge (so lets say you fight balverines in the guild caves instead of beetles - just a thought!) to make it more interesting than bad character against bad enemies for your second playthrough then for the more character-attatched players the game would be a suprisingly high amount more fun.

I fail to see why it is retarded but I can see why one may find it less appealing but also why one may find it a very good addition to the game - you don't always need to go by the cover of the game! Still, I suppose it's the choice of the player and I find it most dissapointing that said choice is chosen for you. Lionhead should still have thought this through properly. After all, Mass Effect did this and several achievements can only be won on the second playthrough and you can do it on difficult settings to win even more. It just seems a shame to throw such a character, well-developed (and all my properties including Castle Fairfax - and the very hard to achieve good and purity points) even after the retribution quest away like this.

Off Topic Question:

I'm assuming that I need Xbox Live to update my gamerscore on my picture below my avatar. Am I correct? I've got a lot more than it says.

Re: Starting With Previous Character

Yeah you do.

Re: Starting With Previous Character

That'd be cool, kind of like Mass Effect, just level the monsters up.
But then again you can always restart, guess that's why they put 5 save slots in the game.

Re: Starting With Previous Character

Urahara: Okay, thanks.
RoG iGreatGoose: I couldn't agree more; 2 options are good. By the way, there's 6 slots, not 5! Your're point's still valid though but remember that sometimes there could be several players playing Fable II on the same console but that's rare though so your're probraly right but still, Lionhead should have actually thought things through before releasing the game!

Re: Starting With Previous Character

Well that's Lionhead for you..
Still an awesome game, but then again without a true leveling system what would be the point of starting over with your previous character?

Re: Starting With Previous Character

I suppose it's down to personal taste. Or at least it should be. Anyway, I've found your views interesting so thanks for that. I think that I could perfect a new character. ;) After all, I suppose there is something in that which you don't get wth a premade character.
