I just bought Portal 2 on Steam yesterday, and installed it today. When I run it, it loads fine, but on the main menu there are only two options: No Steam, and Quit.

Clicking on No Steam does absolutely nothing, and Quit just closes the game. Why wont this work for me? I've tried going to the Steam support page, but that is confusing as **** (just have a number I can call damnit).

EDIT: Ok, so I can't even register on the forums to ask a question without having to wait to be approved. Seriously, if this is how Valve treats their customers, I'm going to boycott Steam completely.

Halp?

EDIT2: apparantly all I had to do was update steam. FFS Valve, shape up!

Yeah usually restarting Steam or updating it fixes those sort of problems and ive read about them on Steam Forums.

It was just ****ing me off so much. I paid $50 for a game, and waited for it to download for ages, and then I can't play it because Steam doesn't feel like it. The game is there and obviously working, Steam shouldn't need to run for it to work.

At least it was only an updating issue and nothing more complicated.

They run quite frequent client updates which can be a pain because they take so damn long but it's got to be done. Best thing to do if you want to know an update is on its way is to check the announcements on the news page - it'll let you know if you need to restart or not.
