Stuck in Road to Rule

Can anyone help?
I am stuck on the road to rule all I can do is go on the portal to the start of the road or exit portal. I have completed the road to rule and the little glitter trail leads to the doors into the castle but i go up to the doors and can do a thing.
I can push the start button and wonder around change outfits, weapons etc but cant access the map either.

Can anyone help? or could it be down to the fact the about 70% of the campaign was completed multiplayer? do i need to get the a multiplayer partner to join to go in the castle?

I can't say I'm 100% sure how to help you here...
Just for the note, you don't go through the doors at the end of the road to rule, I don't remember which of the two it is, but you go through a portal on the ground at the top of the stairs, or through a portal on the wall that is also above the stairs.
Sorry that I can't really help more, but hopefully this will solve the issue.

The portal at the bottom of the stairs is the exit portal that you get taken to from the road to rule the portal at the top of the stairs takes you back to the start of road to rule but the little shiny trail that you follow takes you up to the top of the stairs and goes straight into the double door which wont let me in.

yea i killed the brother, set taxes, sent the kids back to work then it took me to road to rule and i cant go anywhere
