Your sentance is confusing OP. If you want the Temple of Shaddows to be larger (destroy temple of light) do the temple of Shaddow quest before the spire or do nothing involving hat quest. If you want to make the temple of light larger do the temple of light quest before the spire.

Minor spoilers if you don't know about the Temple quests I suppose...

Before leaving for the spire you can do "Oakfield Massacre" or "Defender of the Light." Massacre obliterates the Temple of Light and basically ruins Oakfield. Defender does the opposite, the Temple of Light and the town flourish.
