Text-based Online rpg, Everwars.

So, a few years back, I found this site with a game called Everwars. It was a pretty simple game back then, but with rpg elements that made it pretty cool. Best of all, I could play it on dialup!

Anyways, it has been recreated and looks to be much, much improved. I have been playing for a couple of days, and I am impressed with it. While it is no WoW, it is pretty cool as a time waster, especially if you are on a sucky connection. It does take a little while to get anywhere, but it comes quickly after the little bit of learning curve.

To play the game is free, although you can pay money for stuff. There are all kinds of classes, spells, weapons, armor, etc. The community is actually pretty cool, and I haven't seen anyone being a jerk to anyone else.

The creator of the site is always looking for more people to play, so they give each player a recruitment link, to give the player that shared the site with others. Here is mine:

I'm all for time-wasters! Thanks for the heads-up, D. +rep

Ill stick with my 15$ per month WoW and the occasional crappy free rpg games that i decide to play for half an hour then delete...looks cool though

Maybe I've just lived in a cave for the last decade or something, but what's a text-based rpg? I have this friend that plays them to the point of obsession, but every time he mentions them I have no idea what he's ever talking about, really.

A text-based online rpg is an rpg with no graphical world in which to travel. Instead, there is a list of various players who have their own "builds". Their builds determine what class, race, weapons, magic and pets they may have, if any. If you attack them, you test your skills against that of the other person. Here is a small sample of when I attacked someone (I am Dyscord, a necromancer. I attacked another necromancer):

Dyscord's Elvish Ghoul attacks for 3 damage
20
77
Dyscord's Halfling Spectre attacks again for 1 damage

drAq casts Burst of Disease V Spell for 5 damage

drAq's Dwarven Ghoul attacks for 1 damage

If you win the battle, you get experience and a prize code. You must go to the prize claim page, where you get an item of common, uncommon, rare, or ultrarare value, depending upon the prize code. These might be weapons, spells, pets, etc. You can sell them back to the store for some money, use them, or if they are good enough, you can auction them off to other players on the player market.

But then again, this is the only text-based rpg I have played =x

Re: Text-based Online rpg, Everwars.

Do i really have to write down my prize code each time...
