This show is my secret shame. I generally scoff and laugh at reality based shows, but I really like this one. It does depend on the contestants though, some seasons have had such bland and boring people in them I could barely stand watching it. However, Season 20 has been amazing and I am in love with Bopper and Mark.

Anyone else share in my secret shame?

You don't strike me as someone who would watch something like that, Tsuyu. So what makes it so great? I can't stand a lot of the reality shows, so it'd have to be really really interesting for me to consider watching.

I'm not entirely sure why I like it. I guess it is just interesting to see the world because who doesn't want to go see the world? Plus when you have some contestants that you really like you get the gameshow aspect of it where you cheer for them, and with all the tasks they have to do (like a bodybuilder speedo competition!) you get some really neat unintentional situational comedy.

And unlike stuff like Big Brother it is not about who's the biggest whore: both in terms actual sex and publicity. It is a rather intelligent reality show that both shows and teaches you about different cultures and countries. It doesn't think its audience is a bunch of drooling apes.

Though that one episode a few seasons back when they actually went to Sweden, my inner schoolgirl squealed with delight....

I wonder how much money I could make by pitching a Swedish version to a television network up here. Seems that the show sorta pays for itself; all the endorsement they get from Travelocity and Ford Motors.

Just gotta get it all together and organize this biatch.

An educational and intelligent reality show with no forced drama? That almost sounds to good to be true. I'll give it a whirl then and see how I like it.

It does have some forced drama. It does have certain elements that lets teams mess up the progress by of the other teams. But thankfully they are rare and most of the times the teams wants to stay on the good side of each other and don't use it.

Oh well that's not so bad, as long as it stays few and very far between then I'll be content. I only get turned off whenever the drama starts becoming the focal point.

It also depends on the contestants on a personal level. There is this bitch who apparently won Big Brother running in season 20.... Jeesh. Does not get along with the other female contestants one bit, and I keep hoping her team gets eliminated but by some miracle they are now in the finals.

Doesn't mean they have to take the most annoying people out of other reality shows as contestants. x_x

It is a lot more interesting to see Joe Everyman anyway, if you ask me.

Hey, if there's a satisfying payoff to her being a bitch down the line then I am totally okay with it.

I hope her team doesn't, God forbid, win. I assume there is some sort of cash payoff in Big Brother, and winning both would just be greedy as there is a one million dollar price in Amazing Race. I do believe there was a team with a winner of Survivor which every other team hated for just that reason.

Well not just a cash payoff, but I mean like her getting owned along the way to make putting up with her worth it.. if there's one thing I can't stand it's an annoying douche that gets away with everything and often gets what they want. Then gloats about it, that, is not fun to watch, I want some humiliation.. some justice!

*stay tuned for another post that involves my mother*

My mother loves most reality shows. In fact the only ones she claims to not like are things like The X Factor and Britian's Got Talent. But she loves Big Brother so she's still well on her way of losing all of her cool. Most times that I watch any television with her, it's mostly when something like that is on and I do get interested but as soon as I stop watching I lose interest and feel dirty about myself.

I'd give The Amazing Race a go but I don't think it's aired over here.
