The Grue.
You stumble across a wikipedia link to The Grue during one of your late night computer dives. You open it up and read a pretty ominous story about The Grues from a very old game called Zonk, and it says that in pitch black rooms in the game, if you didn't find a light source, you'd get this message:
"It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue."
You start to get a little paranoid, but shrug it off. After all, it's just a game.Right? You finally get around to pulling yourself away from the computer, flip on the light switch in your room, and lay down in bed, watching some tv.Friends re-runs.Great.
Then, the tv on your screen goes black, and in bold white letters you see the words:
"It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue."
Then you hear a fizzing, and the bulb in your room pops.
For a split second, you hear the shuffling of feet in your room...
